I have used all the cheaper ferry companies in the past but would recommend Brittany Ferries as the best provider, with the best on board facilities. You must not miss the on board restaurant with waiter service the food is excellent and good value, to start or finish your holiday.

We travel to Santander on the former on 6th December and returned on the latter on the 16th December. The Etretat is advertised as a basic service but is better than the dearer Cruise Service. The boat is compact but the prices and quality are acceptable. This is not the case with the Cap Finistere. There is either a basic... More

Wanting to treat myself to a pre-Christmas treat, a friend and I booked one of Brittany Ferries' new "Gourmet Cruises" to Caen. Given that the price we paid (£104 each) included cabin accommodation each way (inside cabin) plus breakfast in Ouistreham and a 3-course lunch at Le Pommier restaurant in Bayeux, I think it offered pretty good value for money.... This review is about the second trip made to France and back in as many months and the experiences were almost identical. We travelled on the overnight ferry (Pont Aven) from Portsmouth to St Malo on Sun 7th Dec 2014 then back on the overnight ferry (Amorique) from Ouistreham to Portsmouth on Thurs 11th Dec 2014. On the whole the... More

I have made a return trip to Santander or Bilbao with my family twice a year for the last 7 or more years, last time we were unfortunate to book late and ended up with an inside berth on the return which through no fault of Brittany ferries drove me mad - awful not being able to tell night from... A happy and courteous crew, we were escorted to our cabin and given a guide to the ship to further explore. The cabin was plentiful in size and liked how the toilet was separate from the shower room. Beds were comfortable and had a nice box of fruit to welcome us. There's a luggage room on-board so its perfect (if... More

The only negative aspect of this review is the length of the crossings from the UK to France, however these are conventional car ferries and unfortunately by design are large and slow in comparison to smaller twin hulled vessels. My experience overall was thoroughly enjoyable stress free travelling. The un/loading times were acceptable and the facilities on board were of... More
