A rather unusal attraction as it is very steep and water powered which provides a link between Lynton at the top and Lynmouth at the bottom ,the views are stunning , even better if you can get to the front on the way down , just a shame it does not take long . Well worth it if in the... more

Not being a great reviewer, I will just say that this is a truly unusual type of railway not at all common for England. We have enjoyed riding it, though the best places in it were occupied by people with dogs. That is why all we could do was sit and watch each other inside. Alternatively if not for the... more

We ended our visit to Lynton & Lynmouth with a trip on the cliff railway linking the twin villages of Lynton and Lynmouth. The water-powered funicular railway climbs some 600 feet up a 1 in 2 cliff. It is a fine piece Victorian engineering, the Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff Railway is unique as it is powered by water alone.
