Loved this place when I was a lad, not so much now I'm older as I now see there is not a lot about. The main thing was the cliff railway and it is an awesome bit of engineering and fun to ride. You get a great view unless you hate heights. Rode up to the cliff top cafe and... More

We had a fantastic day in lynton and lynmouth. The cliff railway is a must and is reasonably priced. Both villages are quaint and the views from the top of lynton are beautiful.

Despite being small, there is still quite a bit to do around the railway. The journey itself doesn't take very long but as the price of the ticket is an all day one. You can go back on the train as many times as you want. Food and refreshments are available in the café and are def well worth trying... More

A unique piece of history, and a tiny part of any break, but well worth the few minutes it takes. Helpful and interesting staff educate and entertain. Great fun.

No visit to The area can be made without going on the water tram. It's a must. It's very exciting to see how well it still works after all these years. It's like a working museum.

An absolutely fabulous find. Beautiful place indeed. Plenty of things to find and do. My children aged 8 and 4 loved the cliff top railway. It was amazing and my eldest was so interested. The view is astounding at the top. A definite place to visit even if you stop on route to somewhere else.

This piece of Victorian technology has been in operation for over 120 years, without burning coal or using electricity. Always great fun to take a ride with this cliff railway, and on clear days the views are spectacular. Even more so when you stand outside. If there's a big queue in Lynton (uphill) you can get a drink and a... More

Really interesting attraction with loads of great information on the website. Nice, friendly staff and fascinating operation. Be prepared for whopper queues as this is massively popular!

My friend had never been to Lynmouth before and one of the things she wanted to do was go on the funicular. It was great fun and extremely steep. We walked up the next day - OMG it was sooo steep! Now I know why they build the railway!

Saves the poor legs, staff very friendly and very knowledgeable. Avoid using between 4-6 going up as this is busiest period and you can que for 30+ mins
