Took a day cruise from Torquay to Dartmouth. Good value £7.50 for adult. Ferry leaves at 11:05 reach Bixham at 11:45 to pick up more passengers then to Dartmouth by 1pm. Then leave at 3:30 and reach Torquay by 5;15. We utterly enjoy the trip as the weather was pleasant. Not a trip for raining or cold day. Small hot... More

This ferry runs from kingswear across to Dartmouth. Its a big wooden floating raft that takes several cars at a time.there is a charge. A boat pushes it across the water.and you remain in your car and drive off the other side.gets busy in summer .with a line of cars waiting to board!

Really good commentater on the ferry. He was a local man with lots of information. Was very lucky with weather, any colder and would not have been as enjoyable, however we were on the front of the ferry so you could go inside.

It was the last day of the Easter holidays. It was supposed to be the warmest of the year so far. My fault probably. Really shouldn't have smart ideas. Get up early. Drive 200 miles. Get breakfast. Catch steam train to Kingswear, catch ferry to Dartmouth, catch Greenway Ferry Dartmouth to Greenway House. All good. I got up. Car started.... More

Took the ferry to Greenaway and a very pleasant and hassle free way to visit this marvellous house. If the weather is good then you can sit on top and watch the World drift passed you.

A Cruise on the River Dart with a glass of Mulled Wine and Mince pie, You pass the Royal Naval College that overlooks the Estuary by the Pontoons which happens to be a resting place for the Seals on the winter months, the Navy training area, a Boathouse used by Sir Walter Raliegh so we were told, a view of... Fabulous trip along the river dart, many trips available with very informative commentary. A lot of History including views of Dartmouth Castle and much more along the way.

Taking the ferry from Dartmouth on a lovely trip up the Dart to Agatha Christie's holiday home is the best way to do it. Saves all the hassle of the traffic and parking (you can only drive and park there if you book it). The house is very interesting and full of different collections of china etc. Apparently they have... More

I have done this trip twice now. The ferry takes you towards the holiday home of Agatha Christie and then it turns around and heads out to Dartmouth castle. It's a lovely view to take in and is made even better if it is a sunny and warm day. Definitely worth the visit when in Dartmouth.

We cancelled the sat nav and I reminisced my childhood journey from 1960s and was pleasantly surprised it still ran. It really is a hop on hop off with just enough time to pay . It cuts off a good hour from the forever queues around the Torquay area. Give it a try you wont be sorry.
