It was the last day of the Easter holidays. It was supposed to be the warmest of the year so far. My fault probably. Really shouldn't have smart ideas. Get up early. Drive 200 miles. Get breakfast. Catch steam train to Kingswear, catch ferry to Dartmouth, catch Greenway Ferry Dartmouth to Greenway House. All good. I got up. Car started.... More

A Cruise on the River Dart with a glass of Mulled Wine and Mince pie, You pass the Royal Naval College that overlooks the Estuary by the Pontoons which happens to be a resting place for the Seals on the winter months, the Navy training area, a Boathouse used by Sir Walter Raliegh so we were told, a view of... Fabulous trip along the river dart, many trips available with very informative commentary. A lot of History including views of Dartmouth Castle and much more along the way.

Taking the ferry from Dartmouth on a lovely trip up the Dart to Agatha Christie's holiday home is the best way to do it. Saves all the hassle of the traffic and parking (you can only drive and park there if you book it). The house is very interesting and full of different collections of china etc. Apparently they have... More

I have done this trip twice now. The ferry takes you towards the holiday home of Agatha Christie and then it turns around and heads out to Dartmouth castle. It's a lovely view to take in and is made even better if it is a sunny and warm day. Definitely worth the visit when in Dartmouth.

We cancelled the sat nav and I reminisced my childhood journey from 1960s and was pleasantly surprised it still ran. It really is a hop on hop off with just enough time to pay . It cuts off a good hour from the forever queues around the Torquay area. Give it a try you wont be sorry.

Lovely to cruise along the river to get to Agatha Christie's summer holiday home on the banks of the River Dart. Best way to get there, although be warned of a steep hill to walk up to the house, however the NT do provide a car to drive the rest of us up to the entrance.

Great value at £7.50 return journey from Torquay to Dartmouth - departs at set times just once per day but the times were ideal and it gave us three hours in Dartmouth, arriving at lunchtime. The commentary both ways from staff on the boat was funny and entertaining. Brilliant trip... Thanks very much indeed.

It is a short trip up the river but there are glimpses of the house and views of the boat house from the river. The commentary on the return journey was very informative and humorous.
