Just completed the 2 day beginner's rock climbing course. Really enjoyed it, despite the weather on the Saturday. May's weather forecasting was far preferable to the BBC's on the Sunday though. Thanks to Gavin and Neil, the instructors, for two excellent days. Ian.

This is a tough course to teach. Each person showing up with a different device that they have already learned some bad habits tinkering with, differing icon designations, varying click functions and on the more advanced devices more complexity than a space shuttle. Andy just takes it all in his ample stride. He found enough time to get through all... More

The trainer on this course was Adam Evans who, I believe, is employed by Pure Outdoor on a freelance basis. Adam was an excellent trainer giving the instruction in a precise and clear manner, at the same encouraging the participants (there were only two of us - so great trainer/trainee ratio) to contribute. The course took place over two days,... More

This was a very well organized course, with the theory and good outdoor practical on day one. On day two we got the chance to put theory into practice again by ourselves and reinforce our new skills. The instructor was very knowledge and had always good advice. I actually used my new navigation skills last weekend on my first solo... More

Well organised, good pace of course, clear instruction - highly recommended Starts with 'classroom' session to understand maps and compasses, then out into the Peak District to apply it! Instruction and reinforcement as you go on a very pleasant walk, stop for lunch - bring your own - along the way. Felt confident by the end that I could find... More

Excellent course - instructor very experienced and knowledgeable. Instructor very familiar with the best crags to suit the needs of the group. Did lots of climbing and at the same time covered the briefings, knowledge transfer and skills sessions and practical skills tailored to individual needs. In short packed a huge amount in to the two days. I gained lots... More

This was an excellent course - informative and fun! The two days went much more quickly than I expected and I learned a lot. I would definitely recommend this company to others.

From start to finish a well planned adventure. Organised with attention to detail that kept everyone enthusiastic and safe. Neal and Mustapha had all the necessary expertise and local knowledge to make the journey memorable. If you are wanting to experience the thrill of 4000m peaks, snow, ice, sunshine and remote mountain huts then get yourself booked on the next... More

Did the outdoor climbing taster day and really enjoyed it. We were lucky with the weather (especially for Feb) and that defininitely helped, but the day was good all round. My husband was much better than me at the actual climbing but still found it challenging and fun, whereas the instructor worked miracles in talking me up routes that seemed... More

Had a fantastic time on both courses and learned a lot. Very friendly team who obviously knew the subject inside out and back to front.
