Lovely small beach

All the beaches round St Ives are lovely. This is quite a small beach with easy access to St Ives, and the Island car park.

This is a lovely little beach - good to go to when the Harbour Beach and Portmeour Beach are too windy. Clean water which hosts wild life, and good cafe on the beach year round.

Small quiet beach (probably as we visited in November). Cafe/toilets weren't open (again due to time of year?). Enough space for our dog to run around, although other beaches in this area would definitely be our choice. Nothing to complain about.

This small, quiet and rather overlooked beach is adjacent to a car park and it's bigger and much busier sister porthmeor beach is just around the corner. Easy access down a gentle slope onto clean sands. Very family orientated with kiddies playing everywhere. The views of the Atlantic are stunning as you admire that and other scenery around the beach.... More

visited st.ives first week of june. Having discovered porthgwidden beach some years ago, headed straight there to have a gorgeous cream tea in the lovely little beach café. It is set in a beautiful little bay with soft sand and shallow waters and is an absolute suntrap, nicely sheltered and perfect for families with small children.

If you like a small sheltered safe bathing beach then this is the one that I recommend in St. Ives. The sea level is just right for bathing and there's a floating barrier suspended between the rocks at the limits where it's safe to bathe away from the current. There's a cafe with an upper terrace where you can sit... More

This is a beautiful beach, with good places to eat close by. Families will feel safe here the sea is usually calm and good for bathing. Children will enjoy digging in the almost white fine sand and creating castles. There are two places for eating just at the back of the beach, one a take away beach cafe and upstairs a fabulous restaurant... This is a beach that a lot of people miss. Just around the headland from the main harbour beach. This is a perfect old fashioned gently sloping beach backed by beach huts and Porthgwidden Beach Cafe. It is very sheltered and has beautiful views out to the turquoise sea beyond. In the summer, this is used for swimming and lots... More

We went out for a late night walk, whilst staying in St Ives. We walked through the the snickets and ginnels and onto Smeaton's pier. The harbour lights twinkled like gems in a treasure chest; it was lovely. We followed our noses and ended up on Porthgwidden beach. Whilst it's only small, it was a lovely little find. We watched... We have dined at this restaurant and found it to be such a nice relaxing place to eat. The food was very good. My husband had the soup and fish and chips. I had the cornish rarebit and paella. It's so difficult to get paella for one person. There was no rush but everything came just right. In fact we... More
