We came across Portkidney Beach whilst walking the coastal path from St Ives to Lelant (a lovely walk as you can catch the train back to St Ives), and were so taken with it we've made a point of returning on several occasions with a picnic to sit and enjoy the amazing views right round to Hayle Beach and Godrevy... We love this beach. It is clean and the sand is very soft and white. The area for swimming is narrow but for a day on the beach it is hard to beat

Totally dog friendly... One of the best beaches in Cornwall by far. Be careful, because our "sat nav" got it wrong, and we had to ask for local directions. We only found out about this beautiful beach by chance. Park your car by the church, and a 15 minute footpath walk across golf course and sand dunes. Steep flight of... More

We did a family holiday with 2 children and 2 dogs and this was perfect! We went down every day for a few hours even in the rain, I ran down there a few times as well. Peaceful and even on sunny days enough space for everyone. OK so there are no facilities but that makes it even better as... More

This beach is OK, but there are no facilities and it is full of dogs! As St. Ives has a ban on dogs on its beaches dog walkers are encouraged to drive to Lelant where there is limited parking and no toilets! It is also used by people employed to walk other peoples' dogs in groups - i.e. professional dog... More

A truly dog friendly beach at last and a stunning one at that. No facilities but nonetheless a true favourite.

Park nearby and follow the signs to this wonderful beach where you can walk for miles when the tide is out

Beautiful beach golden sands massive when tide is out lifeguards too and dogs are allowed! Next to a river which is dangerous to swim in so stick to between the red and yellow flags. Sea was quite warm. Plenty of space for everyone. So lovely. Just pity there are no toilets. Park by the church in Lelant or on side... More

Great beach great people. So pretty and 100% dog friendly. The only thing missing was a few stalls for food and drink

Had read on the web it was an unoffical naturist beach, but no sign of anything! Nice beach and a lovely church to visit, and a good walk round the bay and back by the golf course, to parking by the church. Lovely spot
