We called in whilst passing, and after a short wait whilst having friendly chat with the welcoming barman, we found a table. The menu isnt huge, but everything on the menu i can honestly say looks awesome! I had the homemade lasagne, what a choice... Absolutely delicious! My wife and daughter both had scampi, one adult meal, one childs, both... More

Really friendly staff, good vegetarian options and overall really good old traditional pub grub and atmosphere. We managed to get a table easily and served quickly on a busy day. Service was with a smile and food good.

The general atmosphere of the pub was good and the bar staff friendly. The problem was with the food - our meal took 50 minutes to arrive. We had vegetarian spaghetti bolgnaise (which seemed to be just quorn with possibly a tomato and spaghetti - no seasoning), cornish pastry (dry, unpleasant and with pre-salted slightly chewy chips) and scampi (very... Just nipped in for a quick drink after a busy family day out. Traditional feel inside which made a nice change from all the pretentious bars opening up. Great service and friendly vibe about the place. Can't really say more as it was just a quick pit stop but would recommend to the passing sightseer in need of a traditional... More

The Pub has a great atmosphere, with good music on some evenings, and great food. I just was a bit disappointed as we went out through the back door, we found Dog Poo over the court yard, as it was warm weather their were lots of flies too , surely this should be cleared up as the kitchen backs onto... If you're looking for trendy decor and posh food then this isn't the place for you. If however you want an old, dark, rustic pub, with great beer, friendly staff and good hearty food then this is the place for you. Kids and dogs welcome. Just what pubs used to be like (and how they should be). Imagine a nasty... More

Lived in St Ives many moons ago but never frequented the Castle...if tonight was anything to go by we missed a trick! Visiting now as Middle East expats and experienced a BRILLIANT quiz; fantastic selection of real ales...WINNER (unlike us at the quiz). Top drawer

This pub was very welcoming and incredibly dog friendly. Our dog (lottie) was brought treats and her own bowl of water while we had a meal in there. The food was nice and excellent value for money with a variety of meals from £6. The staff were great, very friendly. The location is brilliant right in the centre of town.

St Ives is a fantastic place and we love it but it is a honeypot tourist trap and as such the pubs tend to focus very much on this market and become restaurants that serve beer on the side or go for the family garden approach. There is little for those who search out decent selections of real ale in... More
