I really enjoyed the evening spent with Shanty Baba telling the group various stories about St. Ives, especially the ones in the cemetery. He is a good story teller and creates a nice atmosphere. He is passionate about what he tells and it could all just be true...

My boyfriend and I turned up this evening excited by the prospect of hearing some super ghost stories. We arrived 10 minutes early only to find that Shanty had cancelled his tour due to bad weather. Around 10 other couples also missed out this evening, we stood waiting for a while commenting on how the weather would have been perfect... More

Yes, I can understand your disappointment...it did turn out to be a calm night with a full moon too. But I made the decision to cancel at about 6.30pm when I watched the local news and weather. They were reporting to get ready for the first of the winter gales. I checked the Met Office website and they had an... More

Terrible... he didn't even turn up due to bad forcast. It was a clear and still night! He didn't even give it a chance considering weather was clear, still, and dry from 6.30pm! Time waster! Also, walked up the waters edge approx 9pm and their was no notice up against the wall, outside the Arts centre... 10mins later, notice up,... More

I am sorry for your disappointment due to my cancelling the ghost walk. Having watched the BBC local news at 6.30pm and then checked the Met Office website where they had an amber alert for severe wind and rain from 8pm onwards for West Cornwall I made a decision to cancel. Unfortunately they got it very wrong...and not for the... More

We took our 6 year old grandson to this walk, he was throughly entranced by the pirate stories, he learnt how to 'Aah Arrgh' like a true pirate and dressed in his new pirate outfit complete with hat and sword he really looked the part and still talks about Shanty Baba's stories now weeks later. We found Shanty Baba engaging... More

We loved this ghost walk! Shanty was brilliant - knowledgeable, friendly, dramatic and with some great stories. You also get to see how beautiful St Ives is at night. Loved it - well worth making time for this.

Even though it had started to rain the walk was still enjoyable and fun. Some of the stories are little far fetched but that's all part of the fun and most of them seem To be based on real events. Shanty is a really good story teller and interesting man it's worth it just to listen to him tell stories.

My girlfriend and I went on Shanty's pirate tour while we were in St. Ives. A great way to spend an evening regardless of age/whether you have kids or not-lots of interesting stories of the towns piratical past (Shanty is a local historian by trade), and great opportunity to walk round of England's most scenic towns and admire its views,... I would say that a more realistic description of the Shanty Baba tour would be the 'folk law' tour as most of the stories are made up by Shanty Baba but some are clearly based on real facts. It was okay and a good way to kill an hour and a half...

Well worth six pounds Shanty is excellent story teller . Good way to spend evening . Very dark in cemetery and may not be great for people with mobility issues but highly recommended
