We spotted Shanty's leaflets during a short visit to St Ives. The kids were captivated by the name alone so we popped back a few nights later to experience the tour. Wow - totally mesmerising and enchanting. He turned up with his lamp, trusty staff and stool, and a mischievous twinkle in his eye. Fascinating stories and a walk around... More

We went to Shanty Baba's Lantern Ghost Walk with the kids and spent over an hour, in fact nearly 90 minutes, totally captivated, mesmerised and immensed in spooky, scary, local horror stories narrated by Shanty. We walked around St. Ives finding locations where happenings and grisly goings-on took place and on these spots, Shanty narrated his story of these events... More

My 6 year old Grand-daughter and I went on Shanty Baba's Pirate walk last night. It's a lovely interactive event, with great historical yarns, jokes and interactions for adults and children. Today we searched out the pirate's grave in Gulval church yard. Its there - just as Shanty described. Tomorrow we're off up the hill to look for the treasure.

A great storyteller. Well worth an hour and a half of your time if you are in St Ives. Better than a lot of the very expensive ghost tours I have been on.

Shanti's Ghost Lantern Walk was an adventure into the "the darker side of St Ives." A particularly great one at that! Shanti's storytelling was entertainingly engaging, enthralling and educational. His stories dive into local St Ives folk law and immerse listeners in the towns rich past. Shanti's Pirate Walk complete with audience participation was brilliant fun and once more delved... More

This is a kid friendly walk lasting around 1 hour 15 mins and does involve a reasonable amount of walking although it's spread out between stops. The walk is a mix of tales, learning pirate talk and pirate jokes. Personally I would have preferred more tales but I guess Shanty is trying to mix it up for the kids and... More

We found this very interesting. Shanty is an amazing storyteller who kept us on our toes for the whole tour.. Be advised the walk is very very hilly and comfortable shoes is a must also it can get very windy so maybe a coat.. If in the area make sure you find yourself outside Blass Burger restaurant for 9:30

Thoroughly entertaining. Great teller of tall tales in some very atmospheric settings. Lots of walking up some steepish hills so need to be active if not fit. Shanty knows lots about the area so try chat with him between locations for even more interesting insights into st ives.

I had arrived in St Ives at Sunday lunchtime for a short break and wanted something I could do (as a lone female) in the evening. Wandering round the town during the afternoon, I spotted the signs for Shanty Baba’s walks - the Pirate Walk at 7pm and the Ghost Walk at 9.30. Both sounded fun, there was no need... More
