Owner description: Set in lush sub-tropical gardens, Newquay Zoo is home to more than 1,000 of the world's rare and exciting creatures. Just a short walk from Newquay's town centre and world famous surfing beaches, the Zoo is both one of Cornwall's most exciting visitor attractions and a leading conservation charity. It's the only place in Cornwall where you can see lions devour their lunch before taking a leisurely stroll through a tropical rainforest, surrounded by free flying birds. Keeper talks and animal feeds take place throughout the day but if you fancy an even closer animal encounter we offer visitors the chance to meet and feed our cheeky lemurs, friendly penguins and impossibly cute meerkats! See wildebeest, waterbuck, nyala antelope and zebra roaming in our African Savannah and enjoy some familiar faces in The Village Farm - one of our most popular exhibits which includes many children's favourites such as pot-bellied pigs, African pygmy goats, turkeys and striped squirrels. And if all that isn't enough to keep the kids amused, we also have activity trails, face painting, a children's play area, dragon maze...and much more. Besides enjoying a great family day out, when you visit Newquay Zoo you'll also be supporting our vital education, research and conservation work, all designed to protect endangered animals from extinction. We're playing a key role in the international effort to save animals through conservation breeding.

the sight of the solitary male lion desperately pacing back and forth in his enclosure is haunting me .the meerkats huddled under the infra red lamp trying to keep warm in a climate that is alien to them and the two tapiers lying on wet and cold concrete also leaves me feeling very uneasy. as for the "savannah" feature -... I haven't been to this zoo for many years. Last time I have to say it was poor. This time, however, my opinion has changed! Brilliant zoo for younger children, lots to see and not far between different animals. Good selection of animals, friendly staff and info boards. The Santa was amazing and very welcoming and jolly, as was his... More

Our Monday fun days aren't complete without a visit to the zoo. Toad hall is the current favourite and we spend hours there and at the tropical house looking at frogs, toads and newts. Staff are always friendly and the zoo is always clean and tidy. Looking forward to being allowed to see the rest of the zoo one day... More

visited in December and luckily weather was on our side. Although not cheap for 4 hours of entertainment we had a lovely time. The 4 year old in our group loved the animals and had great fun on the Tarzan trail. Because it was quiet we were able to experience all the talks and were lucky enough to see the... More

Thanks very much for the feedback - we're delighted to hear you had a good time at Newquay Zoo and that you got to see one of our lions opening their "advent calendar"! We have visited Newquay zoo a few times. The main reason is that your entry fee includes free entry for a week! We enjoy going around the zoo with our two boys - there are lots of animals to see. Lion, tigers, tropical house, penguins, monkeys and so on. There is a nice playground and a cafe serving a good... More

Thanks very much for your comments - we're delighted you enjoyed your visit though we were a bit surprised to hear you saw tigers as we don't have any at Newquay Zoo. We have some lovely cuddly ones in the gift shop so perhaps that's what you meant?! Glad to hear your boys had their faces painted as we pride... More

Didn't realise the zoo was so big. Had a great time there but shame about the weather - it was raining all the time. Because of this, a lot of the animals stayed in their sheds, so we couldn't enjoy seeing them. Those we did see were amazing! The cafe was nice to have a hot drink and food. If... More

This zoo is wonderful. All the animals look very happy indeed, enclosures are spacious and natural. I loved visiting here :) The otters are amazing, as are the warty pigs and bleeding heart doves. My type of animals and all in a lovley environment.

Out of season visit, wet weather & yet thoroughly enjoyable. Value for money - paid for 2 adults & child with option to revisit in same week (we went twice in total). This meant we managed to see and read about the different animals there (lots of monkeys that you can see up close, Madagascar favourites - cute, lions &... More
