Description: Set in lush sub-tropical gardens, Newquay Zoo is home to more than 1,000...
Set in lush sub-tropical gardens, Newquay Zoo is home to more than 1,000 of the world's rare and exciting creatures. Just a short walk from Newquay's town centre and world famous surfing beaches, the Zoo is both one of Cornwall's most exciting visitor attractions and a leading conservation charity. It's the only place in Cornwall where you can see lions devour their lunch before taking a leisurely stroll through a tropical rainforest, surrounded by free flying birds. Keeper talks and animal feeds take place throughout the day but if you fancy an even closer animal encounter we offer visitors the chance to meet and feed our cheeky lemurs, friendly penguins and impossibly cute meerkats! See wildebeest, waterbuck, nyala antelope and zebra roaming in our African Savannah and enjoy some familiar faces in The Village Farm - one of our most popular exhibits which includes many children's favourites such as pot-bellied pigs, African pygmy goats, turkeys and striped squirrels. And if all that isn't enough to keep the kids amused, we also have activity trails, face painting, a children's play area, dragon maze...and much more. Besides enjoying a great family day out, when you visit Newquay Zoo you'll also be supporting our vital education, research and conservation work, all designed to protect endangered animals from extinction. We're playing a key role in the international effort to save animals through conservation breeding.

So I hadn't been over for a while and thought I'd pop over from Falmouth with my camera, have a walk around and take some pictures. I got over early (zoo opens at 10am, if I remember correctly) I was there for around 10:30. Ticket price I'd say a little on the expensive side...£12.95 is quite a lot I think??... More

It's an OK zoo, fairly compact with a good selection of different animals and birds. The reptile tunnels and some other areas are a bit cramped when it is busy though. Highlights include the tropical bird house with free fying birds. It's easy to get around, the food at the restaurant is good quality for the price and its easy... More

Thank you for your comments. We appreciate your feedback. We do understand we can get busy in certain areas of the zoo at peak times and we do try to build large enough areas to deal with these issues. We are delighted you enjoyed our tropical house and the food available. As for the parking, it is council owned (as... More

Not normally a fan of zoos as I have the urge to let everything out, Newquay Zoo is different in that it's small and friendly and all inmates seem to be relaxed and content. The zoo is laid out well and all attractions are easy to locate. There are informative sessions run by keepers who deliver facts in a relaxed... More

We picked a really warm day which helped us enjoy the zoo. It's a small place but they pack lots in. My only complaint is the lion enclosure. 3 large cats sharing what looked like someone's back garden. That really needs a relocation. Everything else was amazing. Otters. Meerkats. Red pandas. Monkeys. Penquins. There's picnic areas. Play areas. Shop and... More

I would have given the zoo 5 stars but the parking experience was horrendous. You have to pay 4.50 for 3 hours and i had to go past 3 broken machines to find a 4th one that worked, and that was after trying unsuccessfully to pay by phone. Other zoos offer free or subsidised parking, and whilst the car park... More

Thank you for your comments. As for the parking, it is council owned (as you stated) and free to park from the 1st April till 31st October. However, our staff can provide members of the public with close, alternative, free parking. We will also contact the council to ensure all the machines are working. We are glad you enjoyed the... We visited here with other family members in April. The children ages ranged from 2-10 and we had an absolutely fab time. This zoo isn't big but it has some lovely exhibits and places to stop off and play or just watch the world go by. The children loved the adventure play park at the top of the hill -... More
