Owner description: Set in lush sub-tropical gardens, Newquay Zoo is home to more than 1,000 of the world's rare and exciting creatures. Just a short walk from Newquay's town centre and world famous surfing beaches, the Zoo is both one of Cornwall's most exciting visitor attractions and a leading conservation charity. It's the only place in Cornwall where you can see lions devour their lunch before taking a leisurely stroll through a tropical rainforest, surrounded by free flying birds. Keeper talks and animal feeds take place throughout the day but if you fancy an even closer animal encounter we offer visitors the chance to meet and feed our cheeky lemurs, friendly penguins and impossibly cute meerkats! See wildebeest, waterbuck, nyala antelope and zebra roaming in our African Savannah and enjoy some familiar faces in The Village Farm - one of our most popular exhibits which includes many children's favourites such as pot-bellied pigs, African pygmy goats, turkeys and striped squirrels. And if all that isn't enough to keep the kids amused, we also have activity trails, face painting, a children's play area, dragon maze...and much more. Besides enjoying a great family day out, when you visit Newquay Zoo you'll also be supporting our vital education, research and conservation work, all designed to protect endangered animals from extinction. We're playing a key role in the international effort to save animals through conservation breeding.

I have visited many zoo's in my lifetime and this has to be the worst. There is enough variation of animals, but it's the first zoo where I have come away feeling sorry for the animals. They look sad and some stressed. I visited first thing in the morning and the zoo was dirty. Looking through the glass at animals... More

this zoo is a lovely clean zoo, a little on the small side but still everything there to keep your child interested for a full morning or afternoon, would recommend you take your own food as expensive but apart from that a lovely place to visit

Brilliant zoo. A tranquil place, lot of animals to see. Open all year. Just announced that the zoo has 3 lions. The café is good. Plenty of parking.

Please do not keep large animals in this VERY SMALL zoo. The Lions have never been happy, this place traumatised me when I lived near by as a child (35 yrs ago) WHY are you still doing this to them and the other large animals in this zoo? ITS NOT OK. STOP thinking of the income start thinking of the... More

Please be assured that our lions are perfectly healthy and happy. The lion keepers at Longleat were very pleased for their lions to come to Newquay because of the exceptionally high level of care that they receive here. We now have a small pride of a brother and two sisters that have settled in extremely well and are thoroughly enjoying... More

Would recommend this as a trip - worth a visit, the staff are really knowledgeable and I would recommend any of the experiences - we did the penguin feeding experience with the head bird keeper and it was great value for money and definitely worth while doing!

Brilliant prices and when we were there they gave us a ticket so that we could come back again free so we did. Lots of ranges of animals, got to feed the penguins as well which was really... More

Very easy to navigate the zoos excellent layout & design. Good overall wheelchair and pushchair access. Excellent exotic birds and some unexpected animals on display included a Lion and a Fossa (the latter of which I had not seen in several other much larger zoos nationwide). There were a large number of schoolchildren in organised groups that were very well... More

Had a lovely day despite a bit of rain. Apart from a small group of nursery children it was very quiet. Lunch in the cafe was excellent
