Having studied the web site I made a special effort to go and see this gallery only to find just a very few, mostly modern pictures on display. When I enquired about the collection I was told there isn't room to display it but there was an offer to see if a particular picture could be found for me to... More

A small but somehow spacious modern gallery in the heart of the town with lively exhibitions to interest young and old. "The Boy Who Bit Picasso", for instance. Good little selection of books. An unexpected gem.

I was looking forward to seeing lots of paintings of the Cornish scenery and coastline. Perhaps we went on a bad day but we only saw a few 'ultra modern art' paintings.

Seen two exhibitions here in the last fortnight. Unusual exhibition about 'The boy who bit Picasso.' Fascinating. It was fun to dress up in the hats and glasses provided for disguise in the spirit of Picasso himself. There was a display of beautiful work by children celebrating the Tall Ships event. I would have all of their work on my walls.... More

Thinking about it afterwards, why were we surprised at how good this small scale local town gallery was? An interesting well curated selection including some important work by local artists from important times.

There is only a small number of exhibits in the art gallery and the first time I visited, this was rather a disappointment. However, on subsequent visits, I have found that whatever the subject of the current exhibition (Sept 2014 it is tall ships and maritime history), the art works are worth a visit. How many provincial galleries can offer... More

this small gallery is specially catered for children with exhibits and many free activities.it is well situated near the centre but the access up the ramp side is very steep if you are challenged physically. You can however come through the front door from the road level.
