Thinking about it afterwards, why were we surprised at how good this small scale local town gallery was? An interesting well curated selection including some important work by local artists from important times.

There is only a small number of exhibits in the art gallery and the first time I visited, this was rather a disappointment. this small gallery is specially catered for children with exhibits and many free activities.it is well situated near the centre but the access up the ramp side is very steep if you are challenged physically. You can however come through the front door from the road level.

Galleries had topical exhibitions to suit a range of ages and interests. Staff are very friendly and knowledgable. They are committed to accessibility and enabled us to view a particular painting in their basement storage which was a great thrill for us.

This is a compact gallery of a couple of rooms on a first floor above a library. There is a permanent exhibition of mainly nineteenth and early twentieth century paintings with a nautical theme, some from the Newlyn School. However I was more drawn to the temporary exhibition centring around the art collection of the son of the late not... More

The Falmouth Art Gallery is absolutely wonderful. As you may expect it's quite small, but this means that the works can be individually appreciated in depth. There are lots of temporary exhibitions. The collection includes paintings and artworks especially from the 20th and 21st centuries, but earlier as well. Naturally the collection is strong in maritime paintings of all dates,... More
