While on holiday in Chester it was a must to go to the Groves admiring its impressive scenery and nature. We spent much of our time watching boats go by, seagulls flying around and people spending their time relaxing in this marvelous place.

Although Chester is a great city it’s nice to get away down to the riverside for a gentle walk. The paths are well maintained and there are seats to sit on to enjoy a picnic or watch the various birdlife – we saw swans, herons and different types of ducks. It’s a lovely place to be, especially on a sunny... More

A hen party of 10 sailed on the Mark Twain on Saturday 25 July all dressed as sailors. It was fabulous! Skipper Tom and his mate Louise made us extremely welcome. The 2 hour trip included a buffet lunch & prosecco, which was excellent - sandwiches, wraps, pizza pieces, pork pie etc (including a separate plate for a 'funny eater')... More

Very well organized river banks for walking around. Clean and full of shade. I had a very good time talking a long walk along the river. The tour itself was also very nice and interesting.

Great when the sun is shining, stroll along the river bank or take a boat trip or feed the ducks if you wish.

After a busy afternoon shopping in Chester, you can't beat a gentle stroll down by the river for a change of pace. There's plenty to look at - we spent ages watching cormorants fishing at the weir, and lots of places to sit and rest tired feet. There are several boat trips on offer, people to watch, and a wide... On a walk around Chester city centre we spied some local boys jumping in by a weir and having a great time swimming from one pool to the next. A slightly calmer version of white water surfing. Its a beautiful spot for an afternoon stroll, the water is clear, clean and full of fish and various other wild life. The... More

The river is just a short walk from the main shopping area and worth wandering down to. We had a wonderful relaxing time strolling in the sunshine. If you have time, take a river cruise of relax in one of the near by bars.
