The Dee is a lovely river with walks on both sides of it as well as as access to the city walls. Boat trips are available as well as several excellent pubs and restaurants. Tea rooms are a nice feature of the area which also gives access to the Grosvenor Park, a lovely green space and picnic area. All in... More

It is not to far from the Racecourse, the city centre or the walls (considering the place that you are walking by). Once you have visited the Cathedral, a) Hickory's Smokehouse, b) Sergio's Ristorante; c) Yo Sushi, d) Chester Tandoori. Visiting the river it is a lovely idea. You can stay by the river on a bench. From time to... More

Like most places, especially in cloud suffocated Britain, the Dee is best visited during a sunny weekend when you have a lazy afternoon exchange for 4 hours of your life. There's plenty of restaurants and bars to gain refreshments in the area and on the river banks, ice cream vendors and cafes. Often a brass section occupy the Band Stand... More

Public area was clean even though it is summer and busy. Lovely brass band playing in the band stand and it was beautiful nosey but only due to the amount of people.

On a nice day this is a lovely place to visit. You can sit and watch the boats on the river or enjoy a trip yourself. There are also plenty of ice cream shops and also cafes, bars and a restaurant. Also right next to the walls.

We went on a river trip as part of the open bus tour. The trip takes about half an hour and goes up the river and back. It was interesting to see the different houses and architecture and we were lucky enough to see a heron at the side of the river. I have been on better trips in other... More

One of Chester's hidden treats. Lots of people visit Chester for shopping and don't even know there's a river there! A beautiful place for a quiet stroll or a river trip.

Grew up near the river and its lovely to sit by on a warm summers day. The boats are great fun and often have evening night out cruises which are great fun.

The river is really nice but you need to catch a river tour. You will discover the beauty of the river and the houses along it. We where lucky to see the Tide coming in in the afternoon and going out at around 6.00.
