Both restaurants have cut costs producing poor quality food and cheap wine at high prices. I have written reviews on 1539 and White Horse

The racecourse is really well set out with lots of facilities. Close to the city centre, this is by far one of the better race courses around.

Our first time to Chester races and it really didn't disappoint! We took our older horse mad children for a treat at the races and booked hospitality at The White Horse. This is the perfect location if taking children as they can see the horses being walked to the enclosures and away again. There's a play area for younger ones.... More

Close to the centre of Chester within walking distance. Plenty of bookies to place your bets. Screens to see the races. Womens toilets spotless. Drinks not ridiculous prices. Great place to go with your friends

Like most outdoor attractions in the UK if you get the sun Chester races is as quintessentially English as a day at the races can get. A superb venues with fantastic vantage points in a quite unique setting it has everything you would want from a great day at the races. A trip into town caps a great day with... More

Great day out for the racing enthusiasts and revellers alike. Lots of bars and restaurants, choice of admission prices & facillities. Two good restaurants on site if you want to splash the cash! Walking distance to city's attractions, range of hotels nearly. Lovely setting too.

Chester races is a great day out for friends. Hark back to your youth. Just dress up, have money in your pocket and enjoy. A number of people go to watch and bet. It's all there. But if horses or betting isn't your thing then don't worry. If you've been invited to a high price private box you may think... More

Chester has it all. Great food, great people and great history. If you add to this a day at the races you're onto a winner. I've still never won as much as a day out at the races here has cost me but the atmosphere is so amazing that it doesn't matter.

Living locally we get to the races a few times a year. Chester race course is within 5 minutes walk of the City ( for those who keep calling it a town, it's the beautiful Cathedral that does it). 3 areas to go to, the main part of the middle of the course...casual, take your own drinks, sit on the... Really relaxed atmosphere, great food. Had stalls around the place that you could purchase goods from which were really nice. Really recommend when the sun is shining and you need a relaxed afternoon!
