Although we realised halfway round that this is really best enjoyed by children, it was interesting and informative. Better illumination of the excavations would help.

Did not know what to expect. Whilst there are some areas that can be improved, both ourselves and granddaughter (9 yrs old) found it interesting. As parents\grandparents you must be willing to spend time explaining the significance of the excavations and other aspects of the exhibitions to ensure all gain maximum benefit of what is, being offered. We were in... More

I visited the Roman experience with a class of year threes on a cold day in March. The children were met outside the museum by our 'Roman Centrurion' and promptly given shields to carry and instructed how they were to march and chant. Our guide was very informative and related well to the children, making it a very enjoyable walk... More

I went along to this museum with 3 children aged 8, 10 and 14 and one other adult. We bought a Groupon family ticket so saved £4. The lady at the reception area was very welcoming and pointed the way to go towards the boat. This sounded very exciting! We entered through the doorway into the "boat" and found ourselves... More

This was possibly the weakest attempt at being a Roman experience that I have ever had the misfortune of experiencing. It was thoroughly embarrassing to have suggested this "Roman Experience" to my mother, and to think there was a fee. The props are tired, the building is tired, there was only one person at the front door, and nobody at... More

We visited with a 5, 6 and 10 year old - did the public soldier tour then the museum, which took about 45 mins - perfect for young attention spans! The tour was fantastic. Our soldier was amazing and really engaged the kids. The museum was just the right level and there was just enough to see and do. I... More

The Dewa Roman experience was an amazing experience. It is truly an experience rather than your standard museum experience. It is great for children and adults. Various aspects of Roman life are highlighted in with life size figures and realistic displays complete with smells and sights. There is also an opportunity to walk below the museum to see the Roman,... More

We love history and romans etc which this didn't disappoint in fulfilling. we found the celler interesting, but was unhappy that there was rubbish scattered all around. the hands on room was fun and we enjoyed dressing up and going to jail etc. we felt that there could have been more or it could have been longer for the price... Staff were very helpful advising when the best time to visit was without all the school children. The digs that are been undertaking were most interesting.
