Did the small circuit from the clock round the cathedral. That wall took some building - I would not want to have to breach it!!

Walking round Chester on the walls is a unique experience. One gets a feel for the size and location of the Roman town. The best thing is that there's no traffic, so it's nice and peaceful (mostly).

A definite must. Only two miles and the views are great. There is a great tea shop as well just past the cathedral. Well worth a visit.

Had a lovely walk on the walls, it`s only 2 miles round the city. A nice easy walk , with plenty of interesting and beautiful sites, along the way . You can , branch off at any point and re-join. A trip to Chester would not be complete , without including the walls.

It takes about 45-50 mins to walk the whole circle, but you can drop down into the city all over the place! On the West side is a wonderful view of the Racecourse, which used to be the Roman harbour, now filled in and called the Rudee. The racecourse is the smallest in England, established in 1539 - and the... More

I live near Chester so enjoy walking the old walls most times I visit as it is a handy shortcut between different parts of the city and shopping areas. Chester is the only completely walled city and they tell a fascinating history from Roman times, through Medieval, Civil War, Georgian and to the present day. It is a lovely high... More

A lovely way to see Chester and it's free! It's great to walk around and imagine how it was when it was built with Roman Soldiers etc' walking around!

Walked around these lovely walls the few hours before dusk . It is an easy walk with lots to keep you interested as you amble around, even a tea shop and book shop to bide some time in , well worth a look .

Loved the views as we walked around the city walls. Lots of history to read as u walk around. Interesting to see the race course. Reasonably flat and can walk in pairs. Few building repairs but that didn't matter.
