There is so much to see in Chester you need a full day to do it. from the wall to the cathedral to the shops and on special days they have street acts and special performances in the pubs etc. Well worth taking the family on a day trip.

We had a guided tour provided by the Mill Hotel. We learned a lot about the impact the Romans had on the City and interesting things like the big clock was to be taken down for refurbishment. Great to see ancient ruins like the amphitheatre with modern shops nearby

In good weather it is a lovely walk, mainly level but with steps to the gatehouses or watchtowers. It took us just under and hour at a leisurely pace and we paused to view the river. Almost all the walls remain.

Walls are subject to restoration but that accepted the visit was OK.This was a pity but I als went to Prague to see the clock and it was also being restored. It just means a return visit will be worthwhile

It took a while to find but once we realized we had already walked past we then went back to have a look at it and it was lovely and a great experience.

We bought a cheap map from the Tourist Info office and followed their suggested route. The map itself contained many illuminating historical facts which enhanced the overall experience. I am ashamed to admit that I had not realised that Chester had such interesting and well preserved landmarks. The museum is excellent, and free incredibly. The whole route was really enjoyable,... Views in all directions around part of the city of Chester. There are several places where you can get on or off the wall, so you can take a brake and visit some places along the way.

Visited the Uni & walked the walls. Brilliant views of the city and across to the hills. Easy going with a few stairs and a few breaks in the walls themselves. Need to return to try Hickory's by the river - the smell was lovely.
