Do it at your own pace and get down and see things as you go round. Not much to not like if you are here to look at 2500 years of history, though the more modern buildings can spoil some of the views. You just have to use your imagination.

Start at the queen Victoria bridge central to the shops & end back in the same place - lots of interesting stoping place to read and take in the view

Thank you muchly, Steve Howe - on our guided walk around the walls you brought history brilliantly to life with your wonderfully informed commentary, full of good humour. We had a great time!

Very rare to be able to walk full circle on walled town. Great views and not too hard as a few steps with good handrails.

Much as we enjoy York, one of the most pleasurable things to do whilst in Chester is to walk the walls. Of course you can hop on and off when you please. Although there are some access restrictions due to safety concerns with stone steps (or there were in September). You get a sense of this great city and it... More

"It's not far, it doesn't take long to run around the walls of Chester", said a friend, "go and see". We did, took us ages, there is so much to see and read from the information plaques, the special parts are fabulous and in great condition, well looked after and described. The walk itself is a great way to see... More

While living in Chester at university I often took walks around sections and on the odd occasion the whole wall. You can get some really nice views of the racecourse, historic Chester City Centre, Chester Cathedral and the River Dee. It can be a very peaceful walk and allows you to take in a huge amount of this beautiful city.

Nice walk if you have the time and it's free to do plenty of snippets of information while you walk round

what more is there to say? It surrounds the old part of the city and is walkable. Well maintained with explanatory signage. I understand it is an approximate 2 mile walk, and it was easily done.
