I live near Chester so enjoy walking the old walls most times I visit as it is a handy shortcut between different parts of the city and shopping areas. Chester is the only completely walled city and they tell a fascinating history from Roman times, through Medieval, Civil War, Georgian and to the present day. It is a lovely high... More

A lovely way to see Chester and it's free! It's great to walk around and imagine how it was when it was built with Roman Soldiers etc' walking around!

Loved the views as we walked around the city walls. Lots of history to read as u walk around. Interesting to see the race course. Reasonably flat and can walk in pairs. Few building repairs but that didn't matter.

Two hours well spent. Plenty of information boards on the way around, historic details and some very nice artist impressions. Very worthwhile stroll.

The wall goes from the north side of the city round to the east and down to the River Dee, it then fizzles out and becomes more of a pathement, although still worth doing the entire circuit. When we visited there was a small area between the Cathedral and Eastgate, which was closed for renovations but we only needed to... More

Such a variety of vistas and a great way to see Chester for the first time. Lots of access points so a good, quieter option for getting around the city. A nice tea room and bookshop on the way round.

Definitely a great way to start your visit to the city. Just gives you a chance to see everything slightly from above and lets you see how the city is laid out both inside and outside of the wall.

The views from the wall, at different locations were excellent. The wall is split and therefore entices you to see more of this wonderful City.

We used the walls to find our way to the city from our B&B. It was fascinating to read the information boards about the specific points of interest on the way round. The part of the wall by the clock was closed for some kind of work but it was a handy break for us to find a refreshing cup... More
