much easier to walk than York. well signposted and loads of information boards. A shame that Eastgate is covered in scaffolding and obscured from view

Took some old friends and our kids to walk round the city. Had to stop them touching the stones of the walls as there was a smell of pee in many places. having said that we got a birds eye view of the canal and into some very interesting gardens and outdoor café areas. Stimulated conversation and was good exercise... More

Apart from a small break you can walk most of the way around the city on the wall. It is an easy walk and well worth the effort for the views of the city, river and racecourse. You are generally no more than 5 minutes form a refreshment stop if required.

Been before, and really enjoy walking the walls of Chester, a nice bright day really makes for an interesting walk along the top of the walls, the views are excellent, especially down by the river. The opportunity to break off from the walking, to look around the shops and restaurants is wonderful, and well worth breaking off for lunch if... More

at the moment the main walkway, where everyone goes to have their photo taken above the main street, is being renovated.... it's a bit of a palarva trying to find a way to get up onto the wall as the easy way (especially if you have a pram ) is at the back of the Cathedral, but that is closed... We decided to take an early Sunday morning brisk walk around the Walls of Chester before heading off to the Zoo. The views from the walls were great and you are able to see other roman remains along the way. There are many ups and downs along the way including steps so we would say it is not really accessible... More
