We had a fantastic day here, the gardens are beautiful, the mere walk is fun, if a little wet! Amazing tea room, space for the kids to roam. Excellent value and well worth the hour drive from our house. It's our new favourite place and we will be back regularly to watch and enjoy the gardens change.

Visited Cholmondeley today for the first time and wonder why on earth I haven't visited before. The castle isn't open to the public but it makes a stunning backdrop to some of the prettiest, most interesting gardens I've ever visited. There's plenty to see and do including a nature trail, Temple Garden, Mosaic, rose garden and the Duckery. There is... More

Lovely gardens, and the jazz was on while we were there. Not crowded, very pleasant strolling around and sitting out. Ice cream a bit expensive but that's a minor detail.

Just lime to say a big thank you for hosting Tough Mudder this year. I had fun running around your grounds in all the mud. I wish I had been able to see more but I was too busy running around in the woods and wading through the lake and getting stuck in your mud.

What a lovely, peaceful place to visit. I stumbled across Cholmondeley a few weeks ago, when I came to watch my friend compete in the horse trials that are held there. I could not believe I had never visited before and it is on my doorstep. So with two friends and a picnic, my husband and I set off there... More

Lovely gardens here. The Duckery and the Temple Garden are beautiful. A couple of little lakes with Temple structures, little bridges and islands with sculptures. There is no card machine at the entrance gate so have your cash ready!! You have to park on the field at the bottom and walk up quite a steep bank. Not advised if you... More

Visited on a charity day for the Donna Louise Children's Hospice Trust. Arrived at 11.00am with pre-booked tickets so no delays getting in. The grounds are lovely. You have a nursery, plant sales, a Chapel to visit, an animal enclosure area (rabbits, guinea pigs, exotic birds, llamas, pigs, goats and horses) There are private areas and the actual 'castle' is... We ventured out from Chester city centre to the gardens at Cholmondeley Castle. Took about 30 minutes to get there, well sign posted. £6 entry fee, cash only since they don't have a credit card system available at the entrance gate. Great price. MONEY WELL SPENT! The gardens are a true delight. We walked first to the Temple Water garden... More
