Beautiful house and charming gardens.

The lake and gardens are really lovely and the little farm quite charming, felt a little sorry for the lone Chinese cockeral he really needs a friend.

Large area of parkland and gardens surround the Castle (which is not open to the public) with plenty of walking between locations in the grounds. Small farm with a few animals and birds to look at, historic Chapel, three formal garden areas with occasional plantings between Worth a visit, but the map of the grounds and signage leaves a little... ..firstly it must be said that despite numerous road signs pointing us to the grounds, when it came to the final few yards the signs stopped and we missed the turning..it was only general knowledge that pointed us along the lane..this is not good enough especially considering the huge variety of possible places to visit in Cheshire..once there, the castle... There is a castle, which you can't access, a lot of space to picnic, or for children to play in, in very, very picturesque surroundings, but not a lot else. The gardens are nice, but not spectacular, and well maintained and there are a few animals in a penned off section, but nothing to really grab your imagination. Great if... More

Beautiful gardens surround a lovely castle (not open to the public). When we visited in early June, prolific rhododendrons were in flower. The gardens were very well maintained but it looked like the lake needed to be cleaned of profuse algae. The extensive grounds are great for a picnic or there is a nice tea room that serves good food... More

Visited in early summer the gardens looked fabulous with lots of different types of environments to explore from formal gardens to woods and meadows. The tea room is great with gorgeous cakes and snacks. The admittance charge is a bit pricy but worth it for a treat and you can spend a good few hours there. Check opening times before... More

We started at the Temple Garden, which blends attractive planting with a small lake and statues and architectural features. It isn't huge, so don't go expecting something like Stourhead, but it is charming all the same and even in April there was plenty of interest to look at. We continued along the recently planted Lavinia Walk to the Rose Garden.... More

My family & I went to Cholmondeley Castle and gardens during summer, and had a lovely time walking around around the beautiful gardens. The castle was built in 1801, and is stunning. It's £6 for adult entrance, and is reasonably price due to cost of keeping the lovely gardens maintained, and for public viewing. We had a lovely lunch in... More

£6 per person seemed quite steep a price to pay. No concessions for seniors made it quite an expensive walk. it did not take us long to look round the gardens and it was too wet to explore round the lake. Rather disappointed with the aviaries as the poor birds had no outdoor greenery to perch on and we saw... More
