On a late summer Sunday in the sunshine, this is as good as it gets. It is not really a garden for kids to run about in. It is one for wandering, sitting, contemplating. Imaginatively planted with good use of slopes, rocks and water. It is a delight

A piece of tranquility in the Cheshire countryside. Beautiful views, well kept gardens and easy accessible walkways. On busy days, eg Teddy Bears Picnic, there are certain areas that get extremely busy however there is always somewhere that you can go to enjoy a peaceful walk. Strolling to the chapel is usually a nice walk, often you can see wildlife... More

After visiting several gardens of large houses I expected these to be more extensive. The first area, around a small lake, is impressive but the remainder turned out to be fairly limited walks over small rises. They gardens are very well kept with specimen trees but I got around them in less than 45 minutes. The map makes the area... More

We had a great day out here with some friends but its £18.00 entry fee for a family of 4! The positives: 2 nice smallish play areas that are not overcrowded Plenty of space at the 1st play area/picnic area for kids to runaround and play some games Beautiful gardens small farm area The negatives: No card payments No bins....you... Peaceful, pretty, wonderful gardens, well kept and good value. Can't complain, but surely it's time to move on and take card payments please.

We were passing these Gardens and being members of the HHA we decided to visit. It was well worth it,gardens well laid out, pleasant tea room, signage to the disabled car park was hit and miss,we finished up in the back yard of the castle, which is out of bounds to the general public, but, non the less well worth a visit, will be making a... We have just returned following the Llwyngwril Garden Club Annual outing which this year was in Cholmondley Castle Gardens. The trip was a great success thanks to the team, Dilys,Pat and Jenny helping me to organise the day. Cholmondley is not as well sign posted as other gardens in the area but it is a gem of a garden. A... More

Whilst Beeston Castle is well signposted and visited, Cholmondeley Castle is a whole different experience. The grounds are flatter so no effort to walk, there are beautiful gardens in which the flowers and shrubs create a beautiful backdrop. There is a main play are for the children by the mere but another smaller paly area by the castle. The farm... More

Not sure you could class it as a visit to Cholmondeley Castle (as this is closed to the public), more a visit to some glorious and beautifully presented garden. £6 entry per person is a very acceptable price for a day visit. Japanese garden is stunning, well presented and wonderfully peaceful. Small animal area with some healthy and well kept... More

We went here 'on spec' as our plans for bank holiday Monday fell through when we found a lot of surrounding village shops were closed. We are RHS members so free entrance was a bonus but even if we had paid, we would not have been disappointed with our trip - what a beautiful place. We parked and walked up... More
