Tucked away at the end of Market Street, Ely Museum is well worth a visit by visitors and locals alike. A classic insight into Fenland life since the middle ages one leaves the museum wondering how anybody managed to endure such a harsh existence. They made them tough out there!

This is the sort of museum I like. Not too many exhibits but enough to stimulate interest in local life particularly the old gaol.

Really lovely museum. Fantastic welcome, helpful staff. Lots to do for the children. The explorer tool belt was a big hit with all three of my children, age 2, 6 & 8. Loads of hands on stuff & interesting things to learn about. Really reasonable admission prices. Highly recommend.

I think my title explains all really, it did have some interesting bits but the descriptions they gave were wrote like only children would read them. I think if they updated it all a bit it would be a good museum as the history of Ely is really diverse and interesting.

I love the gift shop and would like to know how I can purchase CD's of the Organ music, etc. Do you have a website? I wish Christmas decorations had been out, but if you have a website, and ship to the USA, I'd be so willing to purchase online.

A variety of history from roman times to be seen at the museum. Well worth a visit. We bought our entry tickets from Oliver Cromwells house at a reduced rate.

We bought a combined ticked for Oliver Cromwell's house and Ely Museum. The Museum on its on is quite dry. There are interesting parts, particularly the use of the building as a prison, however there is an awful lot of 'stand and read boards' rather than visual or hands-on exhibits. I tend to find trays of Roman terracotta pots quite... More

Lots to see, both history of the building itself and Ely. Joint entry available with Oliver Cromwell's House.
