Make sure you ONLY go from Garrett Hostel bridge - many of the punt touts working at quayside and silver street are working for illegal operators, and are a horrible blight to an otherwise respectable and legitimate industry. Scoundrels. Look for the washed up rockstar in a leather jacket and doc martens, or a delightfully charming Persian in the tight... More

Rent a punt to see the beauty of Cambridge from the water. Alternatively, you can join a group and hear the stories the punter tells you.

Walked along this river in the bleak mid winter and thoroughly enjoyed it.We talked to some one who lived in one of the barges moored by the riverside. We were surprised to learn that they did not have access to an electricity supply or mains water. Looked like a tough existence for them with a three year waiting list for... More

We were there last spring and went canoeing on a sunny Sunday afternoon with a picnic lunch. Was back there last week walking over the bridges and was just as beautiful with the reflections and stunning buildings in the background. Well worth the time.

Visiting the river Cam is an amazing thing to do either lonely or with some friends. The experience shows you why Cambridge is such a nice place to visit. I recommend to visit the river at the Autumn.

You can't go wrong with a walk along the river cam, there is so much of it to see, either in the city centre or out in Chesterton and beyond. Perfect for walking the dog, or find a boat tour!

During the nicer months of the year (May - Sept) the river is choc a bloc with tourists. Firstly you will be harassed as far away as the city center and the touts are like vultures, and Secondly the river gets snarled up with there being to many punts in a little space of water because of the beautiful backs... Great stop off point along the walking trails in Cambridge. Lovely on a sunny day...or even a rainy day!
