Anecdotes abound if you take a guided punt down the Cam. Everything from inter-college rivalries to a London property transaction that went bad. Beautiful views of the colleges from the river. Good value for money in taking a glimpse back in time.

When visiting Cambridge this weekend, we were frequently asked about taking a trip on the River Cam, by punt. We had decided to do this anyway, but the continual barrage of students trying to undercut each other's prices was really off putting. We did agree to take a trip, paid the fee and were asked to return at 12.55 pm... More

Beautiful surroundings, messing about in boats (with a pole), the joy of seeing other punters falling into the Cam ... the best place to be. Trinity College has a much more friendly attitude towards customers than the commercial companies upstream. The stalls on Market Square will supply most of your yachting food supplies. If you need to learn the basics... More

We hired a chauffered punt and had a wonderful time. There are many touts and companies operating along the riverbank. Choose a reputable one as their information is guaranteed to be accurate, with trained chauffeurs rather than just made up as you go along. They also supply umbrellas in case of rain and travel rugs for snugness. The trip lasts... More

Me and a friend booked a private punt. It was a lovely sunny day. The guide was friendly and informative . We drifted down the came drinking a bottle of proseco. The punt was a little expensive £100 , but it was well worth it and a treat to ourselves. I would most definitely do this again.

Do not pass up taking a punt along the Cam. It is the ony way to see the campuses from the backside easily. Traffic gets alittle wild, and crashing into each other seems unavoidable. I would recommend hiring a Punt and not trying to manage the navigation yourself--saw many a punt having trouble going in a straight line.

A lovely peaceful experience on the River Cam. A very helpful guide who explained the historic information on the attractions we passed and made the experience very enjoyable. Worth the price and highly recommended in the sunshine.

Relax as you glide past the most famous colleges in the world and learn the history of Cambridge. You can Punt yourself which adds to the fun and take turns with the long pole !!! or you can take the lazy way and just lie back. You can always go up the Cam as well and stop off at The... More

Walking from the Plough at Waterbeach up to Baits Bite lock. Nice and easy for walkers and cyclists. Detour down to Milton country park for a cup of tea etc in the all year round cafeteria. Great walk or ride
