Lovely little river/canal that you have to see. Hire a punt with a guide and get to know Cambridge history. Lovely views, great atmosphere. If there is one a must do thing in Cambridge, it's punting down the river cam!

Either have fun punting yourself or sit back and let a student take the strain and tell you about Cambridge. Brilliant on a sunny day. Very popular so try to book a punt early

Something that everyone visiting Cambridge should do at least once. Needs good weather to be enjoyable and worth paying for someone to punt you along and give you a bit of a history of what you are gliding past.

On a sunny day, if you happen to be visiting Cambridge, you should not avoid a walk along the river followed by a boat trip. It is a nice and relaxing experience which allows you to see the city from a different perspective.

I grew up in Cambridge in the 1960, and came back for a school reunion. It was great to spend a sunny Sunday morning just not doing anything special other than enjoying the place and watching folk try to use the poles on the punts. It seemed so much busier than back in the 60's but isn't everywhere?

Such a great place to spend your evenings! Great walking path, good biking facility and never more than fifteen minutes away from nearly anywhere in Cambridge! A great landmark!

You can punt by yourselves or hire a guide to punt you. When we went 12 of us hired a guide to punt us. We relaxed as our guide took us through the history of all the glorious grounds and buildings we passed through Cambridge and then onto Grantchester (of Rupert Brooks fame. We had tea at the lovely Orchard... More

As rivers go, we thought that the Cam was excellent - nice flow, gentle meanders, friendly ducks and so on. Seriously, it really shouldn't be missed on a visit to Cambridge as there is a lot of life happening on and around the river, and much fun to be had.
