Take a lazy walk and enjoy the scenery watching the punts and other folk on their various water craft. Or meander across Midsummer Common & amble back into town.

We took a "chauffeured" punt ride along the Cam on a perfect summer's day. It really shows the magic of Cambridge - views that have hardly changed. Our Canadian cousins and their children LOVED it, including the well pitched and informative commentary. Not cheap but well worth it.

You can't help but soak up the atmosphere of Cambridge if you stroll the meadow along the Cam, especially if cows or swans are in residence. Get a pint at The Mill and squeeze thru the cattle gate and plant yourself on a wall of an evening and watch the people. Can't be beat!

It's a peaceful, interesting scene and a fun activity, especially if it's your 1st time. I have a son at King's and we enjoy picnicking on the grass across from the King's College Chapel, watching the punting action. Recommended!

This is a good river. It flows at a reasonable speed, it contains no piraña, and it seldom rises over its banks causing flooding and devastation o'er the land. It can be punted on, swum in and - at a pinch - drunk. It does not contain nuts, but may contain ducks. The 'bathroom facilities' are comprehensive, and one 24x7

The river Cam runs through the centre of a very nice city - Cambridge - where it goes under some very nice bridges and past some lovely buildings. In general I find the river has the normal amount of wetness, but slightly too many weeds for my liking - although both the fish and ducks seem to like this very... More
