On a recent visit to Cambridge, my friends and I popped into Clare College Gardens. One of my party is particularly knowledgeable concerning all things horticultural, and was extremely impressed with what we found. So much so, that he made a return visit later the same day! As a city Cambridge has more than its fair share of beautiful attractions... More

One of the quieter parts of cambridge along the backs, this is a place to read meditate or people watch as the punts meander by. The gardens are absolutely wonderful, being very secluded and private, and there is never many people here,so my tip is come, enjoy and bring a light snack.

We visit Cambridge for a few days every year. No trip to Cambridge would be complete without a visit to the beautiful, peaceful Clare College Gardens on the banks of the River Cam. This is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of Cambridge. We visited on the day before graduation, so the garden was at its absolute... More

I confess to a long liking for the peacefulness of these gardens....i use them for rest and study,..especially the small hidden section by the pool, best accessed from the Backs One can wander here as if in another world ...the river is near and the college itself...i find that by entering from the Backs one can go through to the city... I was told that this was an exceptional garden to visit, and from the viewpoint of punting on the cam it't looked great, however the gardens are not that brilliant, and I would not recommend people to go out of their way to see them.

It helped that it was bright sunshine and the hottest dy of the year so far. Still, the garden with lovely sculpture, paths through the plants and beautifully arranged flower beds was a delight. There couldn't be better way to take in the river and college buildings than sitting on the river bank there.

The Clare gardens are the most gorgeous of all the colleges with flower beds bursting with different vibrant colours, neatly trimmed hedges, green lawns and mature trees; which are all immaculately tended by the gardeners. There are benches there if you want to sit there and enjoy the tranquillity of the beautiful gardens in the middle of the bustling city.... More

Take time and enjoy the grounds and sit and relax in this beautifully kept garden. Perfect place for contemplation having walked for miles around the other colleges.

A nice end to a busy day, the gardens are beautiful and we had fun watching people punting down the backs, one fell in!

Such a tranquil place, away from the busy tourist areas. Good to see the leaves appearing & blossom on the trees. Cambridge is such a lovely city.
