We booked the "Steam 'n' Cuisine" for 2 and we were very excited to live a proper old-school experience when people dined in trains. The train was very nicely decorated, with name reservations on the windows and flowers on the table. It all looked very neat and our food expectations were high. Little did we know. We had pre-ordered our... More

What a fantastic experience! Spent a whole day with my son on a Steam Locomotive Firing & Driving Course... the staff were excellent and really made you welcome... within no time we were on the footplate and receiving our initial instruction. We able to drive the steam locomotive up and own the line, shovelling coal, filling water, changing points and... More

Took all the family on a Santa Special before Christmas. There were 8 adults and 4 small children (1 - 4 years old) I can confidently say they all loved it, and the presents they were given were very well chosen for their ages. It was a grand mornings entertainment for all the children (and the menfolk)!

We arrived at 9.45am on a wet Monday at the beginning of the February half term- not very auspicious but there was plenty of free parking and the cafe was open. What a gem! There was an accessible ramp and we went into the cafe and ordered coffee and two different homemade cakes. We took our coffee and cakes into... More

At first glance this looks like any other preserved railway cafe but inside it is a bit like the Tardis. You queue to order in the usual way but take your tray into one of two old Mk1 carriages to eat. One is set up as a snack area with nice, clean tables. The other is the 'posh end' which... More

Visited here a number of times. The buffet car is brilliant. We were so impressed we have booked it for our silver wedding do. It was great to do the 'driver for a fiver' rather than spending a lot on an experience day if you are not sure if you will enjoy it. Well worth doing. Staff help full. Toilets... More
