As part of my sad bucket list l visited with wife. Most of time sat waiting for train to move at each end. Interesting but only if you are in area. If you want food cafe is good enough to visit just for that alone.

This was in fact our second visit to this excellent site and, once again, we brought a couple of our grandchildren with us for the day and a picnic to eat on the train. The railway at Bitton is well signposted and easy to find being adjacent to a main road (the A431) and with plenty of parking; both times... More

A very friendly welcome awaits visitors as you step back to the days of "proper" railways. An interesting array of traction, both steam and diesel, covering the modern era and the not so modern. The whole journey covers just over 3 miles with a run-round taking place at each end and its fascinating to see the operations of a bygone... More

Visited about 2 years ago with the family. I booked a ride on the steam train together with the lunch, which was a wonderful experience for the entire family, although it was a pity that the track available for the train to travel was not longer.

A really special treat for you or a loved one takes the form of Sunday lunch on the Avon Valley Railway. The lunch was beautifully prepared and presented and served in the luxury of a first class dining car. Beautiful views as the train does multiple passes over it's preserved length of track, and all pulled by beautifully restored steam... More

i visited this place not so long ago, its tucked away in the countryside so you may miss it, it has a play area for kids as well as a railway which both kids and adults are allowed on. it has somewhere to eat. you can talk a walk by the river which has plenty of wildlife.

For steam train enthusiasts, senior folk, or those with an interest in industrial history, this is definitely worth a visit. Beautifully maintained this place conjures up forgotten times. We went on a 2-for-1 offer, which seemed reasonably priced. I must admit the standard prices might test the more frugal visitor's financial acumen. Whilst the ticket was an all day rover... More

walked the old railway line from Bath to Bristol. The tea shop at Bitton on the Avon valley is about half way and was a welcome sight. Dog friendly, plenty of choice plus gluten free and veggy choices. It was very busy when we arrived and a bit slow but they were pushed. this place is popular with non walkers,... More

A rare visit from an exiled brother prompted a visit to this local attraction. It is staffed wholly by enthusiastic volunteers, whose enthusiasm is tangible and lends to the experience. This was in school holidays and all ages were present (and entertained) not only on the train but on the adjacent cycle track. Loads of free car parking. The café... More
