For steam train enthusiasts, senior folk, or those with an interest in industrial history, this is definitely worth a visit. Beautifully maintained this place conjures up forgotten times. We went on a 2-for-1 offer, which seemed reasonably priced. I must admit the standard prices might test the more frugal visitor's financial acumen. Whilst the ticket was an all day rover... More

walked the old railway line from Bath to Bristol. The tea shop at Bitton on the Avon valley is about half way and was a welcome sight. Dog friendly, plenty of choice plus gluten free and veggy choices. It was very busy when we arrived and a bit slow but they were pushed. this place is popular with non walkers,... More

A rare visit from an exiled brother prompted a visit to this local attraction. It is staffed wholly by enthusiastic volunteers, whose enthusiasm is tangible and lends to the experience. This was in school holidays and all ages were present (and entertained) not only on the train but on the adjacent cycle track. Loads of free car parking. The café... More

The railway attraction is very good. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the cafe. In the past I have noticed that the orders are very slow to arrive, but we went there recently and walked out. The queue was almost out the door and just one young girl trying her best. When I looked through the hatch into the... More

This was a really lovely event with some amazing musicians. The children (aged 4, 6, 7 and 8) really enjoyed it.

Please note, this review is for the cafe not for the AVR experience. The food here really is quite shocking. Our BLT's took about 30 minutes to arrive and were just really bad. Cheap mayo, fatty bacon and sour tomatoes. The cappuccinos were also very bad - really milky and mine had a whole coffee bean in it! Will not... More

If you're a steam railway buff, you'll probably find this disappointing in comparison to other preserved railways. The overall travel is just over 5 miles, but you start from a mid point, go 5 minutes in one direction, waiting whilst the loco is decoupled and goes to the other end, then you go back to the mid point, and then... I had the most wonderful day driving Train No15 at the Avon Valley Railway. The course is run by the staff and volunteers at the railway and they are so helpful and kind ( My wife has a mobility problem but nothing was to much trouble). The whole day was well worth the money and I would thoroughly recommend the... More

This had all the ingredients to be a really great evening, steam train, murder mystery and dinner. Unfortunately my meal arrived so late that I wasn't able to properly participate in solving the mystery (there is time at the station to speak to the actors and look at clues - we were just being served dinner). It was a real... More

We enjoyed a great Murder Mystery evening on the Avon Valley Railway. Having been to a Murder Mystery in a hotel previously I was unsure how they would get it to work on a train however they executed it extremely well. The plot is outlined on the station platform and the characters introduced. On board the train there were booklets... More
