I know some people are disappointed by the length of trips, but do your homework and you will know it is only a three mile track - I am sure they would love it to be longer, but those are the facts. The good news is you can use the train as many times as you like on your daily... More

I like do trips on old steam railways but was very disappointed with this one. The coaches were just any old British Rail stock. There was nothing else to see other than the train. The scenery along the route was nothing to write home about. I shall not visit that one again.

Enjoyed our visit to the steam railway. Liked the fact that it was not commercial. Good value for money. Tea room sold delicious cakes. Situated in a converted railway carriage.

We visited here for our 3 year old's birthday as she LOVES trains. It was fairly busy but we easily got a seat on the steam train. It was a lovely, if short trip to the stations at either end. I believe the total length of the track is 6 miles, although it didn't feel this and a longer trip... More

I've grown up next to this railway and now moved away nut as I visit family regularly I got a 3 year family pass, the money you make back in just a few uses. The kids love it, the station is constantly improving and staff are nice. The cheesy chips come in big portions which is yummy and you get... More

We booked a Sunday lunch on the railway: what a good decision! The tables were beautifully laid, the staff ( all volunteers by the way) were friendly and very helpful and the food was superb! We chose the beef which was full of flavour and very tender. Apparently all the meat is from a local butcher so it was good... More

Last year we visited the nice little Avon Valley Railway in Bitton at lunchtime on the day they co-organised the Bristol Vintage Bus Rally and we couldn't get anything to eat! There were so many people there their rather less than slick catering operation was in meltdown. This year we went again (equipped with sandwiches) but they were in control... More

A truly heartfelt thank you to Bridget and all the staff at Avon Valley Railway, Bitton, for all the hard work that went into making the 'Celebration of Life' for my late husband, a very special occasion. We organised a high tea for 100. There was an excellent choice of sandwiches, sausage rolls and cakes, and plenty of it. The... More

Halloween murder mystery on a train with fancy dress. I liked it. Food ok and filling. Byo drinks. Weather poor but they did very well at acting it out in the carriages so we didn't get wet. Tables are 2 or 4 in first class, so our group of 5 was a bit awkward, someone had to sit out.
