We thought that we would try the Santa Express for 2014 and booked early. The day before we were due to go, my son was rushed to hospital and ended up in Intensive Care. I contacted the railway explained the situation and they were so so helpful, rearranging my ticket for him so that he wouldn't miss out. Cannot praise... More

Yet another great trip on the Santa Special, if you missed it this year, put it in your diary for 2015. Best of both worlds, Staem Train one end and a Heritage Diesel the other. Santa spends time with the children on and off the train.

The Avon Valley Railway is not very long but the welcome and the feel is great. In one direction towards Bristol it is hardly visually exciting but the other end of the line through the Avon Valley is lovely and though a short journey the contrasts are great. Enjoy good food at the station - good value too and served... More

The train doesn't go very fast but the view is beautiful, a lot of people like walking along the rails, it is a nice walk. The train itself is more family friendly. Do try it if you are around

My family and I went on the murder mystery trip on the train this weekend and we had a great time! When we arrived the actors took us through the plot - someone had been horribly murdered and our task was to find out who'd done it! We then boarded the train and enjoyed a tasty two course meal -... AVR has changed a lot over the years since my last review. The carriage restaurant is run by a lady who has turned it around since she's been there. The food is reasonable and pretty good, and it feels very much part of the community with the special activities they have there on a regular basis. Back to being a... More

my boys love trains so enjoy coming to the railway station. Ticket allows you to go both ways on the train at any time that day. food is nice and reasonable and you can do this sat in a stationary carriage.

This is quite a nice way to spend a couple of hours, unfortunately the length of track they have is not that long, the biggest gripe I found is you cannot pay to board at the stations at either end, you have to get on in the middle, I think this is a big mistake as I can see some... More

Disapponting that it only goes back and forth between two stops. As it doesn't cost much, its worth getting out of the house.

We went along on a nice sunny day, expecting a train journey. The carriages were great fun and the dog was allowed on too, but we went up the track for about 5 mins, then watched the train go past and link up the other end of the train. Then we were taken up the track for a short period... More
