A great piece of history brought back to life. The museum is interesting and informative and also has 'hands on' items. It also has dressing up facilities and I was über excited at the fact that I could dress up in clothes from bygone days and that's before you get on the ship. The ship showed how people slept and... I had wanted to visit this ship ever since it was returned to the UK from the Falklands, as I have an interest in naval/marine history. The restoration is very good, and most interestingly presented, and the whole experience can be tailored to suit children as well as enthusiasts. For senior citizens like me you can park/ride for free and take the... An absolutely FANTASTIC place to visit. Steeped in history, however , a brilliant attraction, and NOT in the least boring. One could really imagine being aboard the SS Gt Britain as she travelled the high seas. The staff were excellent and extremely knowledgeable about their attraction. Very nice café area to sit and watch the world go by along the... More

Having being round ships before (yawn) I was not particularly interested when hubby told me we were going round SSGreat Britain. But I was very impressed with it all , it was not just a ship but an all round experience. Congratulations to the curator who has made it seem like you are actually in the docks as well. Also... Unfortunately we could only spend a little over an hour looking round as we had a train to catch. You need to allow a lot more time to do it justice. It is not cheap, but well worth it. I particularly liked the glass/water roof over the dry dock, very effective! If I had one negative comment to make it... More

Our day started out for another Bristol attraction, however due to a wrong turn we ended up at SS Great Britain. The dry dock shows just what lies beneath the water line and provides a unique insight into the ships construction and the damage it has suffered over the years. A walk through the museum enlightens you to life on... More

A huge amount of effort and dedication has been put into getting Great Britain where she is today. I remember her rescue from the Falklands in 1970, when she was little more than a rusting hulk not long for this world. I hadn't visited the ship since her restoration and although she will never be seaworthy again, the standard of... More

My husband was really keen to visit this attraction - I was of the opinion that once you've seen one old ship etc.. However I have to eat my words as this tourist attraction was fantastic! The attention to detail in re-instating it to it's former glory is first class. The whole visit took about 3 hours and went so... More

We loved the ss Great Britain, it is fascinating to see how our Victorian ancestors travelled. The kitchens were particularly interesting. The exhibition prior to the ship was really good too with lots of hands on items for children young and old. You can keep your ticket and re-use it in the following year also.
