Somewhere to take the Grandparents

A great collection of bygone oddities (and tractors). A rainy afternoon must if you're entertaining the grandparents-Provides the prompts to endless reminiscing.

A wonderful trip back in time for all ages, and a great memory jogger on how we used to live, up to 60-100 years ago in every aspect of our lives, from house hold goods, vehicles, toys, shops and a whole lot more besides. Nice diner for lunch and gift shop for souvenirs. Easily reached from Jcnt. 19, M.5. and... More

I am 28 and went with my parents who are in their early 60s. We spent the whole time pointing and saying "Remember that?" Or "I had one of those!". Many of the items reminded me of days spent with my grandparents. The layout is lovely, with the shop settings although the start of the museum is slightly muddled and... More

I went to Oakham Treasures with my 15 year old son, and we both had an enjoyable and interesting time looking at the 1000's of exhibits. Whether you're young or old I think they'll be something to interest you here. My son was particularly fascinated by the original mobile phones, the 1923 Austin and an original police motorbike. And me?... More

It is amazing how when you were younger things were everyday then one day they just seem to disappear off the shelves or the package changes and you notice at the time, but soon forget until you visit a place like this. Believe me it was a lot of fun seeing things that had long since disappeared from memory to... More

Spent several hours here looking at objects from my childhood, toys, household items etc. my husband loved the old farm machinery, as he was brought up on a farm. Many happy memories were stirred and there was lots to talk about. At the end of our tour, we visited the cafe/restaurant and had a very nice meal. It's the sort... More

We didn't have the best experience - overshadowed by zero ambience in the huge cafe with no other customers - and a glaring absence of clotted cream served with the cream tea (they didn't think to mention that they had no clotted cream when we ordered the cream tea!) followed by bafflement at the discovery that this tourist attraction doesn't... This is our second visit to this superb museum of cultural nostalgia, and also my second review. It is just, in my mind, a great place to visit, something for everyone, old, relive some memories, young, learn how your parents/grandparents lived. They have a new building open, it's not finished yet, but there is still plenty to see. Old tools,... More
