Owner description: Woburn Abbey has been the home of the Earls and Dukes of Bedford for nearly 400 years and is now home to the 15th Duke and his family. Alongside the world class collection of art, the house contains the fascinating stories of the people who have shaped the history of both the Abbey and the nation; including the ‘creation ‘ of Afternoon Tea. The Gardens, with a twenty year restoration programme, are of equal splendour with 28 acres of Repton designs to be explored and discovered.Throughout the year Woburn also hosts a series of events including: classic cars rallies, The Woburn Abbey Garden Show, summer theatre, the country fair, vintage airplane rally and autumn deer walks.

We enjoyed Woburn's lovely gardens. The Abbey itself is large and interesting, although one of the rooms was closed for a private event, and another area housed a seemingly half-finished exhibition, in a vast and largely empty room, with more than its' fair share of dead flies on the windowsills! We used Tesco vouchers which made our visit more affordable,... More

Live relatively local and had been here many years ago, so thought we would re visit. We allowed a whole day which you will prolly need. Was great for kids to run around and lots for them to see and do. For adults it was a relaxing day in beautiful surrounding. A lovely way to spend a day, we also... More

Had a lovely afternoon in the gardens of Woburn Abbey today, also went into the gift shop and tea rooms. The gardens really looked wonderful, and the staff in the shop and tea rooms were very pleasant indeed - as was the lady at the entrance. They all made me feel most welcome. Altogether, a lovely visit, one that I... More

It was a wet day in late October, and we spent only a few minutes in the Gardens. The House Tour, however, kept us occupied for a couple of hours. With audio information, and pleasant and very knowledgeable staff in every room, we learned a great deal. And, just when we thought that we had finished the House Tour, we... More

Had an enjoyable day at Woburn Abbey and gardens. Despite bad weather, we were able to spend almost two hours in the gardens with enough time to visit the main house in detail and have a spot of tea. On arrival you drive through the deer reserve. This is a great photo opportunity but be wary of other drivers on... More

All around, an excellent time, family enjoyed it immensely.....The day was nice and sunny, the drive around the abbey was very pleasant, bathrooms are fairly clean, parking is plentiful. did not stop for tea. will definitely go back.

I have just come back from a good day out at Woburn Abbey and gardens. The history was interesting and the special exhibition on World War I was particularly good. We visited the tea room twice - lunch and afternoon tea and both were good. The only disappointing aspects were that there were no audio guides left (only Spanish ones!)... More

We had a couple of hours to kill before picking up our children at school, so headed to Woburn with a family guest. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff - lady at the entrance had to re-do our tickets as we discovered as we were about to pay that we had discount vouchers! She took it in her stride:) Staff in... We drove up from London for a visit to the gardens and to have some afternoon tea. Admittedly we got there late into the afternoon, but surprised to be greeted with "you can only have what we've got out" ie crisps and scones. Disappointed with the lack of respect or warmth from staff. A couple of junctions down the M1... More

Totally our fault. Having driven for three hours to visit, we failed to read the opening times correctly. We did drive through the Deer Park to the gardens and had a wonder around. At an earlier time of year I am sure they are delightful. We will venture back again in season and hope to see the whole place in... More
