Description: Woburn Abbey has been the home of the Earls and Dukes of Bedford for...
Woburn Abbey has been the home of the Earls and Dukes of Bedford for nearly 400 years and is now home to the 15th Duke and his family. Alongside the world class collection of art, the house contains the fascinating stories of the people who have shaped the history of both the Abbey and the nation; including the ‘creation ‘ of Afternoon Tea. The Gardens, with a twenty year restoration programme, are of equal splendour with 28 acres of Repton designs to be explored and discovered.Throughout the year Woburn also hosts a series of events including: classic cars rallies, The Woburn Abbey Garden Show, summer theatre, the country fair, vintage airplane rally and autumn deer walks.

Visited with a group of our local U3A people. We were extremely well looked after, with refreshments upon arrival, and a very knowledgeable guide to show us around the establishment. Lunch in the lovely clean and bright café. Gardens also very well kept, and luckily we had a decent day weather-wise to look around them. Well worth the outlay, and... More

My husband and I visited here recently, and enjoyed a lovely peaceful afternoon in the Abbey, grounds and tea room. Recommend comfortable shoes, no high heels as floors and stairs can be uneven in places and there are cobble stones (not good for fancy shoes). Staff in house and the Duchess's tea room are lovely, very pleasant, helpful, friendly also... More

What a spectacular and stunning stately home, Woburn Abbey is. We went as a group and even a had our own guide "Tony " who was so knowlegable, he was a mine of information on the "Russell" family and the Dukes of Bedford through the centurues. The tour of the house was truelly amazing, and so well presented.

I went there on a rainy day with my husband and considering the long drive of the grand estate I was looking forward to visiting the Woburn Abbey as I have been here several times to events on the grassland. I parked up and was very flattened to the entrance which reminded me of a washed up water theme park.... More

I expected it to be heaving on a bank holiday, but it was really quiet, so it was a very pleasant day out. The gardens are coming along nicely with some new areas taking shape and there are plenty of rooms in the house open to visitors. Staff were lovely and friendly, there was some top quality china and literally... More

We arrived at 11.30 bank holiday monday on a lovely sunny day. Driving in there were herds of deer what a lovely sight. The show had a good display of superb cars from vintage, classic and custom cars. There was a auto jumble which is always good to sort through. A bouncy castle for the children. A good selection of... More

We spent the whole day at Woburn arriving at 11am. On approaching the Abbey (2 miles from the pay gate) we saw hundreds of deer. What a beautiful sight. Once entering the Abbey Gardens it was time for a Free Garden Tour (12 noon). We were the only ones there so Andrew the head gardener took us around bringing to... More

Visited on business for a day. Lovely location and from what I saw would definately return for a personal visit and tour of the buildings and grounds. All are kept immaculately. Woburn safari park is also just across the estate so possible to combine a visit to Abbey and park

This is a wonderful historical house set in a nice garden. The house is full of the most beautiful furniture and items of interest. The way that precious items are displayed in well lit cabinets is to be highly praised. The guides in every room were excellent. There is also a wonderful cafe with superb food. The tables, cutlery and... More
