Alongside the world class collection of art, the house contains the fascinating stories of the people who have shaped the history of both the Abbey and the nation; including the ‘creation ‘ of Afternoon Tea. The Gardens, with a twenty year restoration programme, are of equal splendour with 28 acres of Repton designs to be explored and discovered.Throughout the year Woburn also hosts a series of events including: classic cars rallies, The Woburn Abbey Garden Show, summer theatre, the country fair, vintage airplane rally and autumn deer walks. « less

This was a trip through English history. The Canaletto paintings all hanging in one room are an impressive sight. The staff were all friendly and well informed and cream tea in the cafeteria was delicious, though pricey.

I visited here last Saturday with my mum and the Royal Horticultural Society and was pleasantly surprised. We were greeted by a member of staff who deals with groups and found her to be friendly and hopefully and told us where everything was and what to visit. We first visited the Abbey and the rooms were amazing and the paintings... More

The 15th Duke of Bedford and his family have done a wonderful job. Do not miss the exposed wood and wall paper in the second room and be sure to ask for an explanation.

We visited Woburn Abbey on the spur of the moment following a visit to Bletchley Park the previous day as it's only 15 minutes drive away. It's probably the most beautiful stately home we've ever visited and the gardens are lovely too. All the staff we spoke to were very helpful and friendly, especially the lady in the tea room... More

Only went to see the gardens as it was quite expensive, about £14 to enter the abbey, £6.50 for the gardens. Gardens were nice, the grounds are quite big. There was a very small aviary with a couple of pheasants, budgies and two really cute guinea fowl! Didn't have time to visit the cafe. Nice place to visit for an... More

We visited on bank holiday Monday in the rain. I thought it was pricey for what you actually get to see and do. The house was lovely although you couldn't see all of it. The guides in each room were amazing and very informative. There was a private function on which meant that there were areas we weren't able to... More

The house in interesting, but nothing you will remember: in comparison to other grand houses of Britain (Chatsworth, Burghley, SHugborough, Blenheim, Hopetoun, Castle Howard). At the beginning of august the gardens were already at the end of their seasonal beauty, with few flowers and a rather wild aspect. The highlight of the visit is the large deer park you drive... Went for afternoon tea for my daughter's 21st birthday, it wasn't as posh as she was expecting but the food and service were exceptional and the gardens are beautiful. Great value.

Loved it . I have been here a couple of times . The first time I did the whole walk around the house and see all the rooms and the trinkets and pictures .... You really could spend all day in there. The second time I went I took my mum Maureen , it was one of the last things... More

This is how it should be done! Woburn is an old hand at dealing with visitors and Brits and foreigners alike should take the trouble to make this must see visit. The entrance fee is relatively high but you will see some remarkable stuff. There are world class treasures here; art such as the Armada portrait; enough Canalettos to satisfy... More
