Description: Woburn Abbey has been the home of the Earls and Dukes of Bedford for...
Woburn Abbey has been the home of the Earls and Dukes of Bedford for nearly 400 years and is now home to the 15th Duke and his family. Alongside the world class collection of art, the house contains the fascinating stories of the people who have shaped the history of both the Abbey and the nation; including the ‘creation ‘ of Afternoon Tea. The Gardens, with a twenty year restoration programme, are of equal splendour with 28 acres of Repton designs to be explored and discovered.Throughout the year Woburn also hosts a series of events including: classic cars rallies, The Woburn Abbey Garden Show, summer theatre, the country fair, vintage airplane rally and autumn deer walks.

Was looking forward to a lovely afternoon of exploring the gardens and deer park having viewed the website to decide what ticket to buy. The experience was very overpriced and disappointing for £6.75, the gardens were just 'OK', nice enough but nothing special, maybe better in summer but not very extensive. However the real disappointment was the deer park, as... More

I took a journey into the secret past of the Second World War codebreakers and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Museums are my thing and the only dissappointment was that I did not have enough time to soak up everything that is on offer.

It is fair to say that the Abbey itself looks magnificent on the outside, while the gardens are beautiful and groomed. However we decided to take our dog for a walk to the deer park adjacent to the Abbey as visitors aren't allowed to take pets into the gardens. And here lies our disappointment as the webpage doesn't highlight that... More

Dear mrrodik, Thank you for your recent feedback. As you have stated we do not allow dogs into the Abbey and Gardens. This regulation is clearly stated on our website, at the entrance of the Abbey & Gardens (for those on foot) and indeed for those arriving in cars, our admission staff make the visitor aware. I am sorry you... More

Absolutely sensational setting for a wedding. Just returned from one there and it couldn't have been any nicer. The settings are, needless to say, gorgeous, and the staff were all phenomenal as well. Really lovely evening for all concerned.

Beautiful house in lovely grounds. The house is very interesting and feels homely as some rooms are used by the family .superb collection of paintings and a fantastic collection of China beautifully displayed in the basement. Room guides are welcoming and knowledgable. Gardens well kept lovely herbaceous borders. Cafe is excellent. Have visited several times and it never disappoints.

The café is also really lovely. The house is huge and a joy to walk around. The gardens are well maintained and make for a lovely walk from the house back to Woburn village (1.5 miles)

Our son recently held his wedding at Woburn in the Sculpture Gallery. What a stunning room. It was in January so we were worried about the weather. But we were blessed with clear blue skies and were therefore able to take the photographs outside in the beautiful grounds. The staff were fantastic and all really at the top of their game.Everything... All three Woburn golf courses are worth a visit. Try and grab a member for a reduced green fee. Oh, and forget a treat for the friendly fox on the Duke's course.

There is a lovely circular walk around Woburn Abbey, surrounded by deer. This walk is okay to do anytime of the year and is suitable for most age groups

We came to Woburn expecting much and left completely flabbergasted. Having visited many of the great country houses before (Chatsworth, Blenheim, Burghley, Kedleston ...) we sort of knew what to expect. But if Woburn Abbey is not up to the same architectural merit as some of those grand names, it more than makes up for with its art collection. The... More
