Shuttleworth houses a unique flying collection showcasing the first one hundred years of flight. Illustrating the history of flight from the early 1900s to the 1950s, you will see how the aeroplane operated in the pioneering years, was rapidly developed during World War I, was used for sport, pleasure and business in the 1920s and 30s and once again became a fighting machine in World War II. You can see fascinating examples ofaircraft ranging from the 1909 Bleriot XI to Supermarine Spitfire and the Hawker Sea Hurricane. Then you can explore one of England's most delightful (and unknown) historic gardens, the Swiss Garden, created in the 19th century, when an interest in ornamental gardening and picturesque architecture first came together. The Shuttleworth Visitor Centre is a great place to pick up some fantastic gifts, or just relax with a cup of tea and a spot of lunch in the restaurant overlooking the airfield. « less

Not Visited for many years until last weekend, a fabulous collection of vintage aircraft all in flying order...what a difference that makes. The maintenance of these historic aircraft is wonderful, you can get within touching distance of the engines & see the care that has been taken to keep them flying, being an engineer it was so great to see... A very welcoming museum with a unique collection of flying vintage aircraft, cars and motorcycles. With the recent update to the Swiss a Gardens this attraction can hold the interest of range of visitors. There are numerous hangers containing the aircraft, cars and bikes, with many other interesting exhibits of aviation history. The flying days are great value with full... More

We were lucky to see some flying on a non-flying day, with the newly restored De Havilland DH88 Comet taking off for a photo-shoot, and on this sunny day the volunteer staff wheeled a number of planes out of the hangars to work on them. But even without this good fortune this would have been an excellent day out. Yes,... More

Has kept its character in line with the location and age of aircraft on display. This is a working museum and you can see the old aircraft flying if the weather is good.

We visited here as three generations of family, some with immense aircraft knowledge, others with very little. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and the admission fee is extremely reasonable (I advise you get the combi ticket for the Swiss Gdns too, which makes for a brilliant and varied day). The restaurant had very generous portions of good food... More

The Shuttleworth Collection mainly consists of vintage aircraft and memorabilia (they have flying days during the summer) but also has some old vehicles and carriages. There is a large car park and a good cafe/gift shop with indoor and outdoor (overlooking the runways) seating. The collection is housed in a series of purpose built hangers and is well laid out,... I had heard of the Shuttleworth collection however never visited. I was lucky enough to be invited to escort a pack of Cub Scouts to an evening at Shuttleworth. The gentleman taking us around was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the planes. I thoroughly enjoyed it but I am in my 40's. The cubs, in my opinion found it a... More
