We did the C2C in late July/early August over 12 days. We experienced only 30 minutes of rain during this time and the heat was blistering, particularly in the lake district requiring large amounts of water to be consumed. The whole experience was great, from the variety of B&Bs we stayed at, to the different people we met along the... More

We took the Sherpa assisted walking tour from coast to coast across Northern England in September 2014. Sherpa arranged the accommodation and transported our luggage between our nightly stays. This was a wonderful way to walk taking only a day pack with wet weather gear and lunch. The accommodation and food, mostly local pubs, was good by any standard. It... More

This walk allows time to reflect, meet new friends and wonder at our amazing countryside. I completed this walk in the summer and only had two days of rain, however you must be prepared for all weather. Accommodation must be booked in advance in busy times as you will find it difficult to find places if not. I carried my... More

We have been an active walking couple and done many long distance walks over several decades. We no longer head off with heavy backpacks and small tents to spend days in the wilderness in remote parts of the planet. In recent years we have selected walks where we can get a clean bed and a shower if possible at each... More

The days I spent walking on this were both challenging but also amazing. There was a huge amount of camaraderie with the People I met on the walk (and continued to bump in to some). The walk changes in tone through the 3 main sections, and my favourites are still the first 3, Lakes and Dales. The last section was... More

Myself, my husband and our 9 year old son made a family decision this year to take on the coast to coast walk and its the best thing we ever did. We are a pretty active family but had no real walking experience. We completed it in 14 days and had a brilliant time. We booked all of our accommodation... More

Heard about the C2C during a casual conversation with a friend who was considering it and must admit I was hooked from the start. So, together with my brother and my best friend (all of us in our 60s), the four of us committed to this unique, once in a lifetime adventure. With little gear and even less hiking experience... Having just completed our 7th c2c I would like to share some observances and more tips. First, there seem to be 2 types of people who come to do this walk. First, the ones who give up at the first sign of adversity and the second type who come to complete this walk no matter what life throws at them..... More

I completed Wainwright's 12 day C2C on September 17th! It was at times very challenging (especially the high altitude options), oftentimes stunning, occasionally draining, but it was always a wonderful experience! Having completed the West Highland Way & Great Glen Way (Scotland) 2 years ago, I can honestly state that the C2C is both more rigorous and more satisfying. The... More
