Six of us, all over age 65, attempted this hike from the Irish Sea to North Sea in May of this year. I had many doubts before and during the trek, but it is doable by anyone with determination and a reasonable degree of good health. We spend 16 days hiking with one rest day in Richmond. The mileages varied... More

We started in April of this year due to work constraints and ran into extremely cold weather this year with dangerous ice, snow and hail in the Lake District hikes. Therefore, if you have a choice I would recommend waiting until mid May as the Lake District comes first. You can read my other reviews for lots of tips but... More

My wife and I just completed the C2C using the guided tour with Northwest Walks. We were very impressed with their service both before and during the walk. We are experienced hikers in the US, but would have found navigation difficult through the English countryside. The guided walk was ideal for us and ensured our success. We were pleased with... Beautiful little church in Orton. Plenty paths for the intrepid walkers, beautiful village and area.

After researching this walk I was uncertain if my wife and I were capable of doing it. We like walking but hadn’t done any long distance hiking before, but we decided to “bite the bullet” and give it a go. We are both so glad we did. This is an absolutely fabulous walk. It isn’t easy but it is doable... More

We did the C2C in late July/early August over 12 days. We experienced only 30 minutes of rain during this time and the heat was blistering, particularly in the lake district requiring large amounts of water to be consumed. The whole experience was great, from the variety of B&Bs we stayed at, to the different people we met along the... More

We took the Sherpa assisted walking tour from coast to coast across Northern England in September 2014. Sherpa arranged the accommodation and transported our luggage between our nightly stays. This was a wonderful way to walk taking only a day pack with wet weather gear and lunch. The accommodation and food, mostly local pubs, was good by any standard. It... More

This walk allows time to reflect, meet new friends and wonder at our amazing countryside. I completed this walk in the summer and only had two days of rain, however you must be prepared for all weather. Accommodation must be booked in advance in busy times as you will find it difficult to find places if not. I carried my... More

We have been an active walking couple and done many long distance walks over several decades. We no longer head off with heavy backpacks and small tents to spend days in the wilderness in remote parts of the planet. In recent years we have selected walks where we can get a clean bed and a shower if possible at each... More

The days I spent walking on this were both challenging but also amazing. There was a huge amount of camaraderie with the People I met on the walk (and continued to bump in to some). The walk changes in tone through the 3 main sections, and my favourites are still the first 3, Lakes and Dales. The last section was... More
