Although Butterfly Gardens is only a short distance from our home, our first visit was very recent and we were not disappointed. Children should not miss this attraction as the staff are there to inform and increase everyone's enjoyment. A butterfly might land on you for good luck!

Hello bbsweets Thank you for your review. It is especially gratifying to receive such an amazing recommendation from a local. Quite often locals can be a little nervous to try things in their own city. We hope that we have alleviated that fear for you and that you have alleviated that fear for others. We have many things going on... More

The gardens are pretty, but are small and it is quite a ways out of Victoria. Good place to stop on the way to Butchart Gardens, but I would not make a special trip just to here.

Hello someone_from_r I am truly disappointed to read your review of our facility. Our gardens is 12,000 sq feet so I am not sure why you would refer to us as tiny when we are 5000 square feet larger than the Vancouver Conservatory. I appreciate your comparison of our facility with the Vancouver Conservatory (Bloedel Conservatory), but as the two... More

We took our two kids ages 6 and 8. It's a small garden located about 20 minutes off highway on country road. My 6 year old was scared of the butterflies landing on her. She only stayed in garden because she made a friend to play with. Saw another mom quickly leaving with her daughter as she was scared and... More

Hello Agiustino: Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that your visit was so short and that the butterflies scared your 6 year old. On occasion this does happen and we can never know in advance how each child will react. It is important to keep in mind that your admission is for the entire day and... More

The Victoria Butterfly Gardens is a delight to visit. Not only does it have thousands of colourful butterflies to see, but it also contains turtles, tortoises, parrots, flamingos and wonderful koy fish. Of course it is wonderful for children, but adults should love it too - particularly when it is a cool wet day outside.

Beautiful way to spend an hour or two. The butterflies and birds are lovely and I found the hatching area to be quite interesting. Plenty of benches to sit and enjoy. Also a nice warm break from the rain. Go when it's bright out if you can, it's easier to spot the butterflies. My only recommendation would be to have... More

My 86 year old mother and I enjoyed our afternoon visit here. It was cloudy so many of the free flying butterflies were not as visible as they could have been. However there were several recent hatchlings in the hatching area that were beautiful to see. It was also fascinating to watch some as they were emerging. I personally enjoyed... More

Hello Bejazzes Thank you for your review. It is always great to hear such positive comments. We stumbled across the Victoria Butterfly Gardens on our way to the Butchart Gardens. We agreed to stop in on our way back and I'm so glad we did! The butterflies were everywhere! Fluttering here and there, feeding on sliced oranges and other fruits. There were live fish in the pond too! It was a beautiful place to visit. I... More

I spent the day in Butterfly Gardens with some friends, it was great fun, to interact with the birds and the butterflies, also the Flamingos and other animals were really great to see. It was a feeling of peace and relaxation. On a cold winter day, it was nice to be in a warm tropical environment :)
