Description: These internationally acclaimed floral display gardens started over 100...
These internationally acclaimed floral display gardens started over 100 years ago and remain privately owned by the family. Jennie Butchart wanted to make her husband's depleted limestone quarry look better and the result is the Sunken Garden. Other gardens include the Rose Garden, the Japanese Garden and the Italian Garden. The gardens are meticulously maintained and provide a riot of colour for much of the year. During the summer, special lighting subtly illuminates the gardens, musical entertainment takes place on the Concert Lawn, and there are ten spectacular Saturday night Firework Shows. The Magic of Christmas season also has beautiful lighting and evening entertainment, and an outdoor skating rink. Spring offers hundreds of thousand flowering bulbs and Autumn is the time for dahlias, chrysanthemums and fall colours. The Gardens is open daily, year round.

We always enjoy our time at this enchanting garden! Took the grand kids as they love the carousel ride ($2 fee going to charity), brings back fond memories as a child! The gardens are starting to bloom, so the fragrance from the various gardens are a sight to see. Highly recommend that you look into purchasing the seasons pass. Great... More

Gardens are gorgeous. I especially remember having a lovely dinner at the restaurant with my husband. There were flower petals in my cocktail!

We were a little worried that we were too early in the season to see tons of flowers, but we were wrong. There were thousands of flowers!! My favorites were the tulips and cherry blossom trees. Bring your camera... the place will naturally turn you into a floral photographer!

Repetitive, overrrated. Not my type of garden, bit i can see if that many people would find it beautiful so I do recommend it for those who love flowers.

Butchard garden was rated lower than the Abkhazi, so our expectations were not high, but we were totally delighted and surprised by Butchard. Where to begin? First of all, what an inspiration to see the before and after for the sunken garden. Stunning!! We went when masses of spring flowers where planted, but what we noticed as well was the... More

Let me start by saying that I am not at all a garden person. I'm not crazy about plants or trees or bushes carved to look like animals. But this garden is really a sight to see. There is a huge variety of plants here, and they are broken down by country. There is a Japanese garden which is a... More

Great coffee shop, wonderful seed store, we had a great time it is early spring but Butchart Gardens had millions of wonderful daffodils, crocuses, and tulips in bloom. Flowering magnolia trees and many others I can't identify made for a great Tuesday visit. Been there in Rose Season and it is fantastic then too. Great new carousel since our last... More

This is such a lovely place to visit. I have yet to go to the High Tea, but I can spend a good part of the day just walking around the grounds admiring and photographing the beauty. The cherry trees were in blossom and I couldn't take enough pictures of them. Bulb plants were in bloom, like the Tulips, Hyacinths... More

We had our company Christmas party here. The decor is very 90s 'upper class', lol. The food was very standard (beef, potatoes, salad) but good quality and tasty enough. We went around the gardens for the 12 days of Christmas light show. That was weird and creepy. The gardens looked nice and interesting though, albeit cold and frosty that night.
