Interesting and original display of local aquatic life. We spent a couple hours here. The staff was very helpful, she went out of her way to identify something we found on the beach taht we had never seen before.

I was very impressed with the tiny aquarium. It is in keeping with the whole Pacific Rim philosophy of being in tune with the environment. There are not many aquariums that collect their specimens at the beginning of the season and release at the end. Their giant octopus is replaced three times in a season otherwise it will grow too... We found the aquarium interesting but over-priced. The women who took out money was friendly but her co-worker sat slumped on the floor operating her apple lap top. The floor attendant was busy flirting with a female visitor so didn't get a chance to ask any questions. We wouldn't go back. Shaw Ocean discovery Aquarium in Sidney BC is hands... More

Although a little pricey, the kids can spend hours inspecting all of the creatures in the touch tanks.

We weren't aware that this aquarium is a catch and release facility. The young people that work there are full of information, given the study they do on the creatures in their care. As this is a non profit aquarium it was really nice to see that several businesses and people sponsored the different tanks within the aquarium. Too, it... More

Housed in a magnificent building that opened in June of 2012, Ucluelet Aquarium is the first 100% catch-and-release aquarium in Canada. Every specimen on display is collected locally in early spring, then released unharmed in the fall. With both enclosed saltwater fish tanks and many open “touch tanks,” we could carefully immerse our fingers in the water to feel the... More

I was very happy my daughter took my wife and I to the aquarium in Ucluelet. I was expecting a drab boring visit. Boy was I amazed. The rates were quite good as you find out it is a (not for profit). You have to slow down from your hectic pace. You must lap the exhibits at least three times,... More

What a great concept! We very much enjoyed getting to touch so many cool local specimens and loved seeing the looks on little kids' faces as they experienced the same. Small scaled, but informative. Would love to experience "release day"! What a great way to teach kids respect for the natural world around them. Well worth the visit.

The staff in this place are very, very good on explaining on what is going on in the ocean around them. What I really like about this aquarium is that they send the creatures back to where the came from.. I will go back again!!!
