We visited in August, kids, cousins, grandparent and parents all thought it was great. As others have mentioned, I especially loved the staff, mostly summer students from relevant disciplines full of enthusiasm and I was thrilled to have them answer all my nerdy questions while my son watched a Dungeoness Crab menace a Red Rock Crab. I like that they... More

Great little aquarium, practicing a catch and release program. Nice staff, very informative and always happy to answer questions. We'd visited some of the biggest aquariums in the world but this still manages to impress with how they fill the place each year and release at the end of the season...always something new and different each year. It's a not... More

We visited the Ucluelet Aquarium with our 18-month-old son. The aquarium is really aimed at children with hands on displays and good educational opportunities. The aquarium is quite small, which you'll immediately appreciate when you see their building, but highlights the local marine environment and some of its challenges. They have a catch-and-release policy so that none of the animals... More

We loved this little gem! We spent about an hour there, and I could have spent far longer if my husband hadn't gotten a bit ancy. The three staff on hand were SOOOO knowledgable and excited to answer questions. I had one of them running around the facility with me showing me sea nettles. So glad we stopped in!

Whenever we visit Ukee we visit. The fact that this is a catch & release aquarium is one of the major pulls for me of this place. I have been bringing my girls (now 13 & 10) for many years. They enjoy it as much now they are older as they did when younger. It inspires their love of both... More

We have visited the aquarium in Ucluelet twice now and just love it. It is not huge but the touch tanks are so much fun. All the animals are caught in the spring and then released back to the wild in the fall. The staff are so helpful and always willing to answer questions and show us where the octupus... More

A no-guilt aquarium! (Because all the sea creatures are released back into the ocean at the end of the season...) And it's memorable and wild to actually get to touch so many anemones and other creatures -- some of their rapid retractions made me laugh out loud. So did the giant octopus, when I finally noticed him high up on... More
