We were looking to Camp near Banff, but all the sites around town were booked up. We drove into Yoho National Park to try to snag a spot at Kicking Horse campground, but it was also full. Then we saw the sign for Takakkaw Falls, and the campground up there. Let me save you any decisions you think you need... More

We have been here 4 times in the past 4 years. Not that we live too close, but it's always an amazing site to see these falls. Best time to see them is in July/August when there's a lot of water. It's chilly so be sure to have warm clothing. A number of amazing hikes start from this place. It's... More

A really nice hike (Iceline Trail) and as mentioned the falls reminded us of a flush toilet :) We hiked there in October 2011 so the weather was quite cold - don't forget a thermoflask with tea or something stronger to keep you warm!

Be sure to see this. As I stated in a related review, the meaning of "Takakkaw" is apparently "Wow!" and this is indeed the appropriate name for this wondrous natural phenomenon. Bring some lunch, and have a picnic. Remember that it can be cold, so bring some warm clothing.

Definite side trip if staying or stopping off in the area. drive cautious on the way and be mindful of hikers and bikers sharing the road.

Just off the Trans Canada, Takakkaw Falls is a nice spot for a picnic. Fun to drive the switchbacks on the road to to the falls. It's a short walk to the falls and you can almost walk right underneath. In August we needed sweaters, especially right by the falls, as the spray is cool. The pictures don't go the... More

the drive to the falls is as spectacular as the destination, and once there it's an easy stroll to the base of the falls.

Nice walk, not difficult and the view is incredible. Did not have the time to walk closer but it would be worth considering.

Takakkaw Falls is well worth the drive up the mountain to get there. One should know however, that the road to get there has several rather dramatic switchbacks and can be an adventure in itself. I am afraid of heights and fortunately my wife was driving or else we would never have gone up that road. Once through the switchbacks... More

parking was hard to find as it was busy with it coming to the end of the summer.. walk ways and paths were very clean and well kept.. picnic tables to enjoy a lunch or just to sit and relax.. benches along the way to sit as well. Decent little walk, perhaps 1/2 hour to the base of the falls.
