If in Lake Louise, take a half hour trip west to Yoho National Park and see Tak... Falls (the locals call it Tak Falls, so I never learned how to pronounce it). Yoho is a gorgeous park. It contains Emerald Lake, Lake O'Hara and Takakkaw falls. All are must sees. You need not stay in Field if you can't get a reservation there. It is not far at all to Lake Louise. There is not nearly as much to see in Kootenay- especially during high season when the wildlife have taken to... more

My husband and I traveled to Yoho National Park, British Columbia, Canada in September of 2008 to get away from it all. We were overwhelmed by the beauty and majeisty of this place! We stayed in a cabin at Cathedral Mountain Lodge which is a very remote site nestled between the Kicking Horse River and Cathedral Mountain. Talk about peace... more

The road to these falls is only accessible from the eastbound carriageway of the Trans-Canada highway, soon after you enter Yoho National Park. A 2km dirt road takes you to the car park.
