Ironworks Distillery opened its doors to the public in June 2010. Situated in the old town of Lunenburg and residing in the building that used to be the old marine blacksmith shop, we create small batches of artisan spirits using produce from the Maritimes. We make vodka and brandy using Annapolis Valley apples, Pear Eaude vie and several delicious fruit liqueurs. Tastings are free.

A "must stop" in Lunenburg!

Worth a visit even if you don't drink! This is a well preserved old blacksmith shop. Their rum is easy on the palate and their cranberry liqueur is the best!

Loved this distillery! Way more than Glenora. Laid back atmosphere and friendly staff. Their selection is unique and flavourful. They don't sell many places, but they do deliver. We also saw them at the local farmers market.

To the left hand side of town if you are down on the waterfront. Some nice old photos and rum, vodka and brandy to buy. Doesn't take long to look around as it is very small but friendly staff

30 minute tour was very informative: guide had extensive knowledge on fermentation and distillation process (they have a unique wood burning still). Tasting of their many liqueurs and spirits. Historical context of blacksmith building respected and explained. And the product was delicious. Gift at the end.

We first sampled the spirits from Iron Works in August 2014 when visiting Halifax. Like all of their spirits the Dark Rum known as Bluenose Rum is distilled in small batches, the attention to detail that hand crafting brings to spirits is evident in this excellent rum. No need to take my word for it though, their Bluenose rum won... More

A very nice building just by the harbour. Friendly staff as well as Chester the cat. One of the stills is right in the main area. Their Bluenose rum is jet black and silky smooth. I am not usually a rum drinker but this is great as is. A good selection of other rums and liqueurs

I found Ironworks at the Annapolis Royal Farmers Market I just purchased the Bluenose Rum as well as the gin. Fantastic product, wonderfully crafted and succulent. I described the rum to my wife, who is not much of a rum drinker as a concentrated rum and coke. Now some of you who feel premium spirits should only be had on... More

We were treated to an impromptu tour of the distillery and then tasted several products - the host was friendly and warm. We highly recommend the cranberry and rhubarb liquors - delightful!

The distillery appeared closed but staff welcomed us in for a quick tour of the distillery. When you walked in, you could smell the aromas of the hardwoods and a batch of Amber rum that was brewing. After reviewing the products, which included small batch local Rums, Vodka, Brandies, and various Liqueurs, my wife proceeded to taste test a few... More

We called into the distillery in the off season and hadn't expected it to be open. It was and as a result we sampled some most interesting products, liqueurs and spirits. We left with product and the receipt for import information, that's if it lasts that long. Lune berg is a delightful port town, even if shut. The sc enery... More
