The National trust have made the most of this picturesque landmark. A moated castle. The heritage of the site is a bit weak compared to other famous castles. There is quite a bit to do. Loads of added value activities in the castle grounds. Excellent lunch. Fantastic ice creams.

I have been going to Bodiam Castle for over 35 years (I even proposed to my wife there). I now take my own young children. Not anymore though. It used to be £2 to park your car and wander through the grounds & feed the fish etc. It's now over £20.00? This smacks of pure greed. Yes it's a charity... More

Pretty nice remains of a castle, lots of ducks and fish in the moat. The only toilet is in the Car parking area so go there first before you do the hike up to the castle.

We got to the castle and as mu hubby is not good at mobilising, we were offered a trip on the buggy to the top. The chap that took us was a volunteer and was extremely polite and chatty. We got to the castle to be greeted by loads of ducks and coy carp in the moat. My hubby loves... More

A lovely historical building in a lovely setting, don't forget to call in at the shop for some duck food to feed the ducks and carp in the moat!

Ask your children to draw a castle, and whilst the girls will probably come up with a Disney hill-top fantasy, all turrets and spires and flying buttresses, the boys will, to a man, produce an excellent likeness of Bodiam Castle. This modest-sized fortification is ruined, of course, but not to the point where there are not plenty of stairs to... More

Lovely day for looking around an open 1300c castle. Beautiful grounds. Were 3 schools there but other than that peaceful, and more interesting than I thought. Staff were helpful and smiling. Tea rooms served lovely lemon cake, shared outside with very friendly ducks!
