we arrived at Bodiam via the Kent & East Sussex railway from Tenterden which was lovely. A short walk up to Bodiam. Nice tea room selling the usual fare and then onto the castle. Breathtaking! Just out of a fairytale. There were staff wondering around in medieval costumes and telling you about the history of the castle and how they... More

This place is stunning, a definite must-see. I came here on a sunny day with my boyfriend and we were fascinated; taking time to explore the castle at length and read up on the history. There are so many nooks and crannies and interesting facts; being able to hear the bats in the alcoves was interesting and the remnants of... More

Just back from a visit of this attraction. We had a lovely walk around but because of the dogs unable to go into the castle. Nice grounds.

I visited the castle today and spent over an hour in the company of a volunteer learning all about the castle and what went on in and around it. When it was being built. A lovely setting and a fantastic history lesson ideal for all ages . Don't delay book your visit soon, you will not be disappointed.

We are lucky enough to be within walking distance of this beautiful National Trust property. This is a proper castle, with a moat that is well-stocked with enormous koi, spiral staircases and amazing views from the top of the towers. You can spend an hour wandering around the grounds and feeding the ducks and fish or the best part of... More

I first saw this castle on a school trip back in the fifties. We were travelling down to eastbourne for a short break and I took the opportunity to revisit. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it hadn't changed. By this I mean the surroundings and general appearance of the grounds. The car park is cheap at £3 but... More

This is a gem of a ruin. It’s visually stunning from every angle with it’s romantic moat. Seasoned castle lovers like myself will love trotting over the bridge, and up the stairs all the way to the top. Grates covering the murder holes are tantalisingly see through, and when you’re on the roof, you can look straight through them to... More

I came here on the weekend as a spur of the moment idea as we had just been to another nearby national trust place (Batemans) and figured it was far to good weather to miss out. the place is absolutely stunning. plenty of spots that are ideal for a couple like us to stop and "selfie" beware rude people that... Without a doubt, Bodian Castle is the nicest castle I have ever visited … it’s the type of castle you imaging from Camelot and Knights of the Round table days. From the outside, it looks stunning, with a circular moat and long drawbridge. The moat is packed with ducks and the largest carp I’ve ever seen … easily big enough... More
