Beautiful castle

We used to live not far from Bodium castle, therefore used to drive up there for a walk. Lovely place with a pond around the castle with big fishes! Worth visiting for sure!

We went up every tower, took lots of photos and were impressed by the castle and its setting. However with teenagers it only took just over an hour as they did not want to join in with the story telling or dressing up!

We visited last Saturday, one of the finest and warmest days of the year, on a day trip from London. The castle is magnificent. It's everything you expect a castle to be. In the words of English architectural historian Gervase Jackson-Stops, "Anyone who has ever built sandcastles will feel an immediate affinity with Bodiam, it looks like the work of... More

What a fantastic castle - very well persevered, and with a well written guided book to help you understand it. Didn't have a chance to visit the recreation camp unfortunately, but it looked interesting with the archery and brass rubbing.

Nice Place for an outing if the weather is nice! Old castle but really just a ruin to climb up into the towers of (trustable children will love it). Great views. Big moat with hungry fish. Not a lot to see compared to the wonderful still standing smaller moated caste of Ightham mote not far away from this one. Members... More

If you are around, absolutely worth a trip. Nice tiny medieval castle, with soaring towers (very steep stairs!), surrounded with a moat. Nice park all around, and in the middle of the beautiful Sussex landscape. Less than 60 minutes needed to visit. And when you are done, just strolling around or resting in the garden is lovely too.

We visited Bodiam castle on a sunny afternoon and absolutely loved it. From the outside, the castle is really stunning - perched on a hill with imposing walls, surrounded by a moat. Most of the inside is ruined, leaving only a big grass square in the middle and the outside walls. However, the passageways and platforms within the walls are... More

we visited on a hot August day. The castle was stunning and more than worth a visit. allow 2 hours plus for visit. good parking. note that there are only toilets at the entrance not at the castle and that they are not the best. apart from that facilities are good. its great fun going to the top of the...
