Owner description: In the heart of Alpilles, the monumental “Carrières de Lumières” host extraordinary multimedia shows which are unique in the world. Spectators are totally immersed in the images projected onto all the surfaces of the rock. The ground is completely covered, too, and becomes a vast carpet of images. The site has reopened its doors with the show “Gauguin - Van Gogh, painters of colour”, created by Gianfranco Iannuzzi with Renato Gatto and Massimiliano Siccardi.

Through means of an audio-visual show set to music, the art of Gustav Klimt (The Kiss) is featured in a limestone rock quarry. The quarry is just a short walk from Les Baux de Provence. This show is something that one must experience - do NOT miss it!!! It is the best thing we did, while in Provence!

Amazing space -- we walk into art -- Klimt's art all around us, even at our feet. Accompanying the brilliant colours of Klimt's world, are beautiful recognizable pieces of classic music. Not to be missed!

Thought this would be a tourist trap or close to it .....but not at all. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and size of this 'experience'.

This attraction was recommended to us as part of a walking tour in the area. We really didn't know what to expect, and that added to the fun of just going through the door and being unexpectedly amazed! The exhibit we saw featured one of our favorite artists, but now that we have been here, would recommend going to see... More

I had never heard of this place, but my fiance's family recommended it while we were visiting them, and it turned out to be one of my favorite places we visited. Just remember to bring a jacket or sweater, as it is in caves, and is very cold.

Using these underground caves from old quarries to create a three -dimensional art installation is brilliant. The Gustav Klimt presentation was an explosion of music & color and was beautifully sequenced. Highly recommend visiting.

Inspiring but freezing and no place to sit except a few limestone blocs. So take a jumper and a folding chair or cushion for elderly folks or pregnant mums!

This is such a unique, different exhibit. Take the 40 minutes to enjoy and savor the large art, loud music & dark quarry. Can't wait to go again & see different artists.

Amazing experience. Go see the Gustav Klimt show before it closes in January. It's amazing, for all ages. A wonderful vacation cultural activity.

We were for a day in Marseille and made a tour to Les Baux de province and Aix . Our guide took us to this quarry to Carrierres de Lumieres which just blew us away and will remember for a long long time . The fantastic art projected on the walls floors and ceilings with a marvelous sound track of... More
