Owner description: In the heart of Alpilles, the monumental “Carrières de Lumières” host extraordinary multimedia shows which are unique in the world. Spectators are totally immersed in the images projected onto all the surfaces of the rock. The ground is completely covered, too, and becomes a vast carpet of images. The site has reopened its doors with the show “Gauguin - Van Gogh, painters of colour”, created by Gianfranco Iannuzzi with Renato Gatto and Massimiliano Siccardi.

My husband and I went last summer, it was was recommended to us as a must go to event. The art images projected on to the quarry walls, ceilings and floor, combined with music were absolutely stunning! Strongly recommend!

They've turned an old quarry into a light and music show, and they've done a great job. It was easy enough to get there and the drive was pretty. The line wasn't too long and the price was reasonable. And then we were in this cavernous old quarry with long open expanses, huge ceilings and walls and a hundred or... More

I saw the Klimt exhibit at Carrieres de Lumiere. It was stunning. This is not my favorite type of painting but it is for my mom, hence our visit. I was blown away by the artistic, very intelligent and beautiful use of the space. The creators of these shows are artists themselves. It is a must see. They change the... More

This is one hell of an experience, nothing like I have ever seen before and not anywhere else in the world that I am aware of. You just got to go there to experience it to believe it.

When you enter this place you feel very calm. Beautiful art pieces are flashed like a dancing ballet on the walls through light effects. There is classical music to accompany it as well. I spent a few hours in here. Definitely worth the visit. The drive there is rather winding. Take note if you have motion sickness.

I was there in the summer of 2014 for the Klimt show (2013 was impressionists). The paintings are projected onto the walls and floors of an old quarry. This is accompanied by a soundtrack of classical music. I was very impressed by sheer size of the displays. What a great way to portray the artwork. What you lose on detail... More

This was one of the highlights of our trip to France this year. Apparently, the artist profiled is changed each year, beginning in January. Definitely worth seeing this show whenever a new artist is presented.

We saw the Klimt art. It was fabulous to see these beautiful paintings just everywhere around you in enormous size - walls, ceiling, floor and on yourself. The music was thunderous and well suited to the show. Watched it twice. Take a sweater as it is very chilly inside the quarry. Even without the show, the quarry interior would be... More

Within a cool and dark abandoned limestone quarry, masterpieces of art are projected and displayed on multiple expanses of stone, accompanied by operatic and symphonic music. An amazing creative vision is shared here as visitors are engulfed by choreographed waves of sight and sound. We visited during the last weeks of the Gustav Klimt show and found it both beautiful...
