In the heart of Alpilles, the monumental “Carrières de Lumières” host extraordinary multimedia shows which are unique in the world. Spectators are totally immersed in the images projected onto all the surfaces of the rock. The ground is completely covered, too, and becomes a vast carpet of images. The site has reopened its doors with the show “Gauguin - Van Gogh, painters of colour”, created by Gianfranco Iannuzzi with Renato Gatto and Massimiliano Siccardi.

Went with family and friends. Had seen it in 2012 in the winter when it was known as the Cathedral of Light. Even more spectacular with projections on the floor and ceiling. You will never experience art on such a scale anywhere else in the world.

Definitely a must do if you are somewhere at Provence, Les Baux is also a very attractive medieval town so both worth for a visit for sure. The shows is on a continous basis and you are allowed to step in at any time and stay as long as you wish... Finding this place at the GPS appeared somewhat difficult... More

Possibly one of the coolest ideas ever (seriously I was impressed). Upon entering all you will see is a huge room that appeared to be cut out of a limestone mountain. The hallways/rooms were about 50ft tall. Probably about 50ft wide hallways as well. It was hard to tell how far they went back, but at least a few hundred... More

I almost ALMOST did not go into Carrieres de Lumieres, butt just forced myself to do it. AMAZING! People tried to explain to me in advance what it was all about, but it is very difficult to put the experience into words. Of my 25 days in France, this was one of the top three best experiences. Tip: It is... More

We were unsure as what to expect as others in our group who had been before didn't want to discribe or disclose that this display is astonishing and almost bought tears to my eyes. The accompanying music bought the light show to life and we managed go see all the old masters and special symbolic engravings and etchings in one... More

Did not what to expect, but this was an amazing adventure. We went with another couple and we all loved it. Try to go to the top and watch from there.

My wife and I visited with our kids (age 8 and 10). We had purchased our tickets prior to arriving so we basically went straight in with no line-up. Be warned, in the height of summer vacation, parking may be dificult to find as there are cars everywhere so you may have to walk a bit. We were lucky and... More

Must admit I never heard before about this magical place, but I do reccomend you not to miss the visit of this caves! Inside you'll be literally wrapped up by the amazing projections on the rocks and the captivating soundtrack which will directly carry you in the Sistine Chapel, in the Leonardo Da Vinci's world or in many others theme... A surprise and delight. Our entire family (including 2 teen boys) thought this was a great experience tucked away in Provence. In addition to these beautiful caves/art/music, we walked up to the little town and had a great lunch and a fun tour of a Medieval castle. All a great day.
