In the heart of Alpilles, the monumental “Carrières de Lumières” host extraordinary multimedia shows which are unique in the world. Spectators are totally immersed in the images projected onto all the surfaces of the rock. The ground is completely covered, too, and becomes a vast carpet of images. The site has reopened its doors with the show “Gauguin - Van Gogh, painters of colour”, created by Gianfranco Iannuzzi with Renato Gatto and Massimiliano Siccardi.

I visited Les Baux in the region of Provence in France last week. The village on the top of the mountain is a beautiful tourist attraction with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. After a delicious meal in one of the nice restaurants I went to the Carrieres Des Lumieres cave. For a 10.50 euros entrance fee I entered a... More

I cannot add anymore than the comments already expressed this is a stunning experience and if in the area should not be missed. Worth every cent of the admission. Only thing I would suggest to get a better sense is to enter, walk right around to the far end and look down the long gallery with pillars to the right... More

Most people I went with thought it was good so I am in a Minority. However I don't see the interest or point in protection of classic images on carved stone walls with music. Suggest you work out which camp you might be in before visiting

Our family (with 2 girls, 8 and 10) enjoyed the 'masters' artists on display at Carriere des Lumieres right outside of Gordes....worth the stop for sure!

There is nothing to dislike. This amazing vast cave, with it's huge columns is the venue for the most wonderful display of world famous paintings, which are transposed on to the walls, floors, ceiling and pillars of the cave, accompanied by appropriate classical music. I did not know which way to look, it was spectacular.

you enter this vast old quarry through a small door after paying 10:50 euros. inside is a huge cathedral size area where art works of renaissance painters are projected accompanied by music, it is projected onto walls and the pillars and also the floor. the whole show lasted about 45 minutes then there was an interlude with trees and fish... A beautiful and 10 minute walk away from the town of Les Baux de Provence is the 'museum' called Les Carrieres de Lumieres. With varying themes by season, they are projections of artwork done onto the big remaining boulders in a limestone quarry. With incredible sounds to go with the projection this is a stop that should not be missed

I was on a hosted tour by the Provence Tourist Bureau on 03 April in Les Beaux. After our visit to the village and citadel we were driven to Les Carrieres where our hosts informed us we were going to visit something utterly unique in the world. Seeing that I'm not particularly partial to overestimations in travel I was naturally... More
