Cool evening!

The street fair was nice. Lots of vendors and live music! Would recommend timing your visit to Nelson to take this in. Last Friday of the month.

There are all kinds of cute shops to explore and some very pretty and unusual sculptures along the way.

Nelson has a hippie reputation, but along with that are some awesome little food spots, great cafes and shops. They've done a great job of keeping the historic feel of the town, and the locals are super friendly. Gets pretty warm here in the summer, and is pretty mild in the winter.

Worth the walk and seeing the artist's galleries. The town of Nelson is attractive and full of interesting people and shops. Very friendly and easy to get around. Gorgeous views of the mountains

Great place to shop, lots of small unique stores. Art walk is great with 17 galleries. Stop and have a coffee at one of the little sidewalk cafes. Cafes have a variety of different menues , one for every taste.

Great area to walk in. I was told Nelson was a "hippie "type town and I can't say that I felt like it was that but It is definitely Canadian. Being an American visiting I loved it and everyone was very helpful. Would visit again. Stayed at the Prestige Inn and LOVED it!

Nelson's Baker Street brings you back into the past: beautiful old buildings, lively but not overpopulated street scenes, places to have a drink, snack or meal in a pavement restaurant. Very cozy and enjoyable.

This was like ye olde steakhouses of the past with actual roast beef dinners smothered in gravy, baked potatoes with the little cups of chives/bacon bits(!)/sour cream to choose from. It was late, we were starving on our trip. Roast beef was a bit chewy and chocolate pate dessert had dried out somewhat, but satisfying in the end.

The shops close pretty early so if you're out to browse, don't leave it until suppertime or you'll miss out. There is an interesting mix of shops here on the street, a lot cater to the 'dog and toque' crowd, bohemians, vegans, new-age, hippies...you get the picture. Many restaurants have patios, most of the buildings have that late 19th century... More
