Raw vegan food store, ROAM (Rivers, Ocean and Mountain) store, Vintage used books, and more make for great wind-shopping and real buying and eating! An enjoyable stroll through a charming slice of interior BC.

Nice walk. Like walking down the street in the 60's. Cute little stores! The prices were a bit high but the ambiance was worth it.

We decided to stop by in Nelson, BC and walked back and forth the famous Baker Street. Indeed there are plenty of nice houses from the beginning of the last century as well as the 40's. On top an interesting mix of various shops with some "hippy" influence as well as several funny painted buildings. We had lunch and coffee... More

loved the small, more intimate shops, seemed to be only one chain restaurant (Subway) within miles..yay! Charming place, the scenery all around is beautiful. On some Wednesday mornings they close off part of Baker street for a street market...food, crafts, just lovely!

What a wonderful find is this street! The interesting shops, nice eateries, and spacious sidewalks make this street so inviting. My wife and I had a blast doing window shopping late on a Monday night (30 Mar 2014). We then took our time visiting a lot of shops the next day, a Tuesday (31 Mar 2014). The architecture of the... I was made to feel like a criminal when a Bylaw Enforcement Officer of the city of Nelson told me that I couldn't walk my dogs in the downtown area. Whereas most places are becoming more pet-friendly, Nelson is the opposite. Being kicked out of downtown with my two little dogs was one of the worst travel experiences I've had.... More

Just sit and people watch. Many of the the youngsters and oldies dress in tie dyed tea shirts, sport pony tails ( men) demonstrate a very odd dress sense including kaftans and crushed velvet trousers or just sit on the pavement and strum guitars. A strong smell of "weed" pervades the air. For half a mo you think you are... More

We have noticed that most RV owners have a dog with them, maybe two or three. Nelson has proved to be the most dog unfriendly town we've visited! Wow. The town park stretches for three km along the river--dog unfriendly. One end is dogs on leash for a short part (no grass) and the dogs off leash is the gravel... More
