Went for a two hour sunset kayak adventure and had a great time! The weather was not ideal and the water was rougher than we expected, but the excellent instruction and support of our guides made for a great first time experience! Would do it again in different weather conditions in hopes to enjoy the sunset and scenery more. Would... More

I completed the 1 day Sea Kayaking Basic Kayaking Course 2 days ago. Jan is inspiring, a great teacher, and a great confidence builder. There was one person on the course who was afraid of the water... I just loved how Jan encouraged her so respectfully, so firmly, yet so kindly. And thanks to Jan this student was able to... More

We did the Seaside Kayaking Tour with Ryan. We're a family of 7: children ranging from 16 years old to 7 years old. Ryan was the ideal guide who patiently explained the gear and technique, then set everyone up in their kayaks. We had a great time on the water at our own pace. Ryan's knowledge of the local sealife... More

I took an introductory kayaking lesson and the seas were quite choppy. If it were me, I would have postponed this lesson for a calmer day as a lot of the efforts were dealing with the waves and not learning to kayak. The kayak was also not size adjusted well so I was imbalanced most of the time. It cured... More

A first time kayaker exploring the Broken Islands for three days. Excellent introduction to sea kayaking - I am hooked. Superior knowledge of the guides of this area including history, sea life and of course kayaking safety and skills. Was not expecting the outstanding culinary offerings. Views are spectacular. Would recommend this trip to everyone.

Jan hosted a group of 7 at her home for the theory part of this course. She was relaxed and made the rest of us feel at ease immediately. It was a morning of great background information. In the afternoon we were in the water and learned firsthand basic strokes, t-resues, self rescue and wet exits. The day was to... More

We did a two hour tour with Jan to see the Sea Lions. It was spectacular. Jan was professional, kind, and just lovely. My husband had our six year old in a double and I went on my own. The waves were up and my son just hooted in delight as they splashed through them. It was our favorite excursion... More

If you're worried that you won't know how, it'll be too wavy, or you aren't fit or fast enough relax. Jan and her crew put us all at ease, spent a quick orientation session on land, and got us all comfortably into boats in no time. The destination distance was reasonable, beautiful and they knew the area and amenities that... More

We had a wonderful experience with Jan in April 2015. The length of our "journey" was just right, she gave perfect instructions and was encouraging and helpful, and she took us to a really nice area where we got to see hundreds of sea lions. It was a really incredible "adventure" for some beginners who aren't really the "outdoorsy" type!... More

Our family of 4, two adults and two kids ages 11 and 7, called Jan up the day before to schedule the sea lion excursion. She was so amenable to fit us in last minute. We met Jan the next morning about 5 minutes from where we stayed at Pacific Shores in Parksville, BC. She had all the gear we... More
