One of my favourite routes is to head out on Lochside trail to Sidney, stop for coffee and head back home again. Passing by the Lochside pigs always makes me smile and 9 times out of 10 I stop to say hello to them and the chickens too. (Truth be known I must have half a dozen pictures or more... More

The Lochside Regional Trail is a nice amenity, a paved bike trail that covers a great distance. But it's mostly on-road or along a highway, so it's not a quiet, beautiful path, except where the road goes along the ocean. I enjoyed it, but have ridden many more beautiful trails.

This is a great way to get around victoria. Some sections that take you onto main roads but they aren't too long and then you are back on the bike only trail! There are some nature sanctuarys and informational sign boards along the way. There is a station for tire pump and tools and even water stations! So much fun.

An opportunity to enjoy the sights and sounds of Sannich Peninsula, from a different point of view. Beggining in Sidney, you'll have 20-something odd kms of breathtaking beauty, from looking across the water and seeing the snow covered summit of Mt. Baker on your left as you pedal southwards, you'll be passing by residential neighbourhoods, lovely paths through the forest,... More

For anyone wanting a pleasant place to walk or cycle this is it. You,re out in the fresh country air yet not too far from regular roads etc. There are no hills so is an easy stroll for even those with walkers etc.

The Lochside Trail makes it so easy to get up and down the Saanich peninsula by bike. It's well-marked, very well-used, flat and well-maintained, and there is established etiquette which makes it easy to use (i.e. don't double up because it blocks the passing areas, ring your bell or call out as you pass someone, etc.) It makes biking safe... We took the ferry from Anacortes, WA to Sydney, BC with our bikes and easily found the trail on the nearby round-about. The trail is well marked but you can lose track of the trail at a couple spots. In about three locations look diagonally across the intersection to locate the continuation... we lost the trail temporarily a couple times........ More

As an owner of a farm close to the Lochside Trail , I know it well . This trail is used by walkers, joggers, cyclists, equestrians, and motorists. It is a paved road that we farmers use on a daily basis to get to and from our acreages. It can be used by all of us. Unfortunately , a number of cyclists hog... More

A primarily flat bike trail that meanders through lush forests, pastoral pastures and cityscapes, from Victoria to Sidney, with minimal traffic (crossing the occasional street). Pacific Ocean views add to the British Columbia experience. Thoroughly delightful and very manageable for folks in decent physical shape.
