Described at the Micro look at west coast marine life; where the Vancouver Aquarium is the Macro. You can get up close and personal with local fish, anemones and the featured Giant Octapus. Don't forget to try and find Ruby the tiny Octapus too. More

This is small enough that it is a great experience if you have little kids. Mine are 5 and 2 and they loved this place. The touch tank in the back is where you want to spend a lot of time. Very cool place. More

Whether you visit Sidney for the bookstores (more bookstores per capita than anywhere else in Canada) or for the seafood, be sure to save time for this spot. I have been twice. Once with kids and once with just myself. Both times were great fun. The docents there are very knowledgeable and super friendly. And everyone, no matter how old,... More

This is a very cool place and do not act like an adult if you want to really enjoy this place- do touch a starfish and take the time to listen to volunteers -they are smart More

I visited the Discovery Centre as a brief prelude to the sailing trip I took through the Gulf Islands. As an attraction in itself, it's not very interesting, but as an introduction to the area, it's an excellent first stop. I highly recommend it if you are spending time sailing or wildlife watching among the Gulf Islands. The insightful guides... More

In a travel brochure picked up at the Anacortes Ferry Landing (Washington, USA) we found a small advertisement for this Discovery Centre in Sydney, Vancouver Island. After spending some time in Victoria, our travel plans took us through Sydney on our way to Swartz Bay to catch a BC ferry to the mainland. Sydney is a lovely small town with... More

Not that interesting for adults, but is focused on the kids. The centre encourages a lot of hands on which kids love. A great learning experience for children. More

For the price of getting into the place it is not worth it. It takes about 7 minutes to walk through. More

Beautiful big tanks with surprisingly beautiful sea life. The outdoor ocean water may look dark but as this centre shows there really is a lot of great life beneath the waves. More
