Just returned from Yamnuska's Yoho Peaks trip - three nights and four days to hike some of the higher/glaciated peaks around Stanley Mitchell Hut in Yoho NP. The highlight was hiking up a glacier at night and seeing the sun rise from the top of The President, over 10,000 feet high. What a way to start Canada Day! I'd done... More

My friends and I recently participated in Yamnuska's new multi-pitch climbing course in Canmore. Everything about this course was excellent, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in getting into multi-pitch climbing. Our guide, Jason Billing, was a wonderful instructor, and by the end of the two-day course we felt very confident that we could begin to... More

Yamnuska was hard, but so amazing and once you reach the top is such an amazing feeling. I used to always love hiking as a kid and growing up. Although once you experience climbing mountains like this, it is just so much more. I would do it again and again. This year I will experience new challenges and new mountains.... More

6 days traverse from Bow to Yoho, with lots of backcountry skiing. One night at Bow Hut, one night camp, three nights at Stanley Mitchell Hut. This is a challenging trip, especially with the forecasted avalanche conditions. The Yamnuska guides (Jesse and Craig) were exceptional, it’s fair to say that the trip exceeded my expectations. I will definitely go in... More

I did the 5 day Ice evolution course and it was awesome. The course was adapted and tailored to our skill level as a group. I got more than I expected out of the course and am really happy with where my skills have progressed. Our guide Brent was fantastic and did an excellent job of selecting climbs and areas... More

Did two courses this year with Yamuska - AST1 and Intro to Ski Touring. I left both feeling full of info and confidence. The guides (Allison, Dave and Grant) not only gave us all the information we needed to know but facilitated a critical environment essential to talking about avalanche safety skill sets. Risk assessment was at the forefront of... More

My Husband and went on the Beginners Ice Climbing day tour at the Junkyards. Our guide was Carl, who was awesome! I was really scared doing this, so much so that I didn't sleep properly the night before! However, I will say Carl was great in encouraging me and supporting me through climbing up the ice. I really appreciated this,... More

Quick Tips: Bring a backpack to carry some your gear, and wear warm waterproof gloves to avoid getting cold fingers. My friends and I went ice climbing for a half day (8:15~13:00) for my bachelor party. We were all beginners and climbed at the Lower Junkyards (Grassi Lakes) near Canmore. There were good routes for beginners there and the views... More

Had an awesome trip. The weather was not very nice until the last day. But our guide instructor Nick did an awesome job I learned a lot and got to climb some peaks and travel through white out conditions on a glacier. The food was great and lots of it I would recommend this trip to anyone wanting to start... More

I have taken three mountain training courses with Yamnuska over the years, Introduction to snow and ice, Avalanche skills training (AST) 1 and most recently AST2. All of these courses were spot on! In the case of the AST2 course that I just took, there was one day in the classroom, followed by three days in the field, learning about... More
