Located off Capilano Road, we stopped when visiting Grouse Mountain and Capilano Suspension Bridge. The dam is located at the end of Capilano Reservoir and the spillway flows into the Capilano River. This time we only checked out the views of the dam and spillway, but in better weather they have a great, easy hike along the river. Hike is... More

As we were already in North Vancouver to visit the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, this was along the way so we stopped by for a look. Nothing spectacular, but it's still a very high waterfall and quite interesting to observe. it's free, so you don't feel like you are getting gouged at another tourist stop. If not planning to go... I went to the Cleveland Dam twice. The first day was rainy, foggy, and cold. I couldn't see anything because the cloud cover was too low. The second day was completely clear, and couldn't have been more amazing. The view of the mountains is absolutely stunning. I couldn't believe that this was right in the middle of the neighborhood. I... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our lovely stroll at Cleveland Dam. Although we did not walk the trails, what we did see was spectacular, and we highly recommend this beautiful place.

The dam is impressive, with a nice park area nearby - but the real draw for me is the network of hiking trails in the area. Hiking trail maps can be aquired at the nearby salmon hatchery - everything from a gentle walk in the woods to a nice lookout point, to moderate hiking trails.

Such a beautiful part of nature around the dam, and the dam itself is spectacular. Take a moment to read the history.

We always take out-of-town visitors to see the dam and the lake behind it. At the right time of year (spring\early summer) the spillway is in operation and a spectacular sight. Take a hike in the surrounding regional park- can access the Capilano Hatchery from the dam. And it is all for free, not even a parking charge!

This is a jewel of a place. Local kept secret....public transit easy to get too. High above the lake breathtaking views and wildlife. Trails if you choose to hike along you can track over to the Salmon Hatchery. Enjoy
