Its a quiet market located by the ocean. Makes for a good lunch stop and great to sit outside on a sunny day. Granville Island has more buzz and ambence but this does have its own character so visit it expecting a smaller, slower atmosphere with an amazing deck by the ocean and view of downtown.

We visited the market place last Saturday afternoon. I hope that it was just due to weather which was still cool and cloudy: the market place was relatively quiet with not a lot of people strolling around. The second floor was even more so, with just a handful of stores opened. There are vendors selling fish, seafood, fresh produce, craft... More

Being a local, with Lonsdale Quay on my doorstep, I never tire of going there, either to shop, take visitors, or just to wander. Hopefully visitors arriving on cruise ships will just hop on the sea bus and spend a pleasant hour or so looking round a local market.

My boyfriend and I had decided to trek out here for the afternoon since it had been a while. The whole place just looks run down and we were really disappointed with the lack of vendors. Yes it's ramping up to summer, but this place needs an overhaul! We actually ended up leaving early to go eat lunch somewhere else.... More

Summer is great at the quay with market stalls outside and a real buzz of activity with events always going on on the weekends. In winter I only go there to get soup. It's a bit depressing during October to may when it's just the standard stalls and nothing going on outside.

Lonsdale Quay is accessible easiest by the Sea Bus as it takes you right outside. There are lots of small places to eat and inside the actual market is lots of stalls selling vegetables, bags, jewelry, fish, postcards, mobile phone cases... you name it! Its not a trip to Lonsdale for me without having a wheat grass shot and the... More

The Lonsdale Quay market didn't seem to have as much as I thought it would. I expected a lot more merchants and food stalls. Quite a few of the food places were closed (too early for lunch, I suppose). It looks like the area is undergoing some changes, with a new attraction to show the history of the ship building... Hi DoubtingNag, It is unfortunate to hear about your experience at the Market. We are sorry to hear that food vendors weren't open to serve you. If you had arrived before 9am, only our breakfast spots would have been open. We apologize if any vendors were temporarily closed, as the Market has been under construction, as we prepare for exciting... More

Come for lunch--lots of great food here. Try Sharky's for an amazing casual meal--incredible value and excellent food. Also, good produce and a great florist. And the sea bus ride from Vancouver is an extra bonus. Enjoy!
