Went here for a family birthday in the hope the birthday boy could get crayfish. Alas no oysters and no crayfish (which is why we came here but we do understand that it is subject to availability). Fish curry was tasty, market fish and grilled fish and chips nice but chips were cold. Battered fish and chips - cold and... More

Fish converge on this place to be sold at auction. The process is very civilized. The bidders sit in a fancy room with computers in-front of them making their bids on the day's offerings. The fish are in a refrigerated room that has a viewing window where you can look in. In the same building are a number of fresh... More

This was the second time we have eaten here. The first time there mas hardly any choice as most meals were sold out. This time was no problem getting food, but no bar licence, so no alcohol. Food is ok, but we've had better sea food in the same area. Service was ok, but I wouldn't recomend it. Better restaurants... More

Seafood Central run a fresh fish shop adjacent to the restaurant, where I have never eaten. I go here to select and buy my fresh fish to take home. I have never seen such a great selection of whole fish and filleted to choose from plus all manner of prawns and some shell fish. Prices are very similar to shop... More

What a waste of money! The service is terrible, food deep fried and average. Waiters got our meal wrong, when we tried to inform them they simply walked away. For what you pay here you could go to Ostro and have a lovely meal and beautiful view.

The city of sails is a great place to see some impressive ships. While sightseeing, I stopped by the Fish Market to see the local fresh catches. It was impressive. The odor of fish is proof you are heading towards the right direction. The inside market was great for local catches I can not get in my corner of the... More

Lots of varieties of local fresh caught fish. We purchased some smoked salmon and a few goodies in the gourmet store. Since we are traveling we did not purchase more. We could have purchased very large, very beautiful Crayfish ( lobster) for $99.95 a KG!,,, HMMM, maybe next time! Cheers!

Dear HeidelbergSummer, Thank you for taking the time to review the Auckland Fish Market. I am pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit. We smoke all the fish we sell ourselves in our onsite smokehouse using the freshest fish and we are really proud of the quality we produce. I hope to see you again soon, Thanks, Andrew Cleverley Manager More

It took me a while to find it, as it was beyond all the yuppy restaurants and bars. The 'free' (with AT Hop card) red bus takes you right there from the city centre. Otherwise it is 50c. There are market stalls, cafes and restaurants. I used the stall that will cook your fish for take-away. I had both Salmon... More

I was actually quite disappointed in the Auckland fishmarket. I visited there not long after it opened quite a number of years ago and at that time, it was new and had a real buzz to it. The displays of seafood looked really fresh and impressive. On this visit, it just felt old and tired. The displays of seafood were... More
