A great place to visit on a trip to Devonport, great views over the city, an easy walk up the hill for most able bodied people or a easy drive up for motorist's (can be difficult to find a car park at the top on busy days) A nice place to eat some fish and chips or a bottle of... More

Devonport in itself is just a lovely area but the top of this volcano could be my favourite views in Auckland. Not a long climb, although steep at parts the views are stunning. You can see Rangitoto, Waiheke, Auckland and Mission and into the distance even Mount Eden and One Tree Hill. Not the most exciting of the volcanoes but... More

Stunning views during the day of Auckland and the surrounding waters and islands. It's a nice walk. There's not much there but a bit of peace and quiet and the gun emplacements of the old fort.

A beautiful spot to see the city spread out before you. Beautiful views of city, suburbs & harbour. One of our favourites. Take a coat - it's almost always windy & cold

A quick drive up and we were in perfect position for wonderful views and photo opportunities. Don't let the names of all the "mountains" around Auckland fool you. They are volcanic cones and are of great interest if you appreciate geneology.

Davenport gives you the small-city feeling, and has a lot of lovely houses and beaches to visit. The perfect get-away part of the city i really recommend visiting while in Auckland. it is also a great excuse to try the ferry, witch is also an experience in itself. From Davenport it is easy to travel to Waiheke and Takapuna, two... More

One of the things we planned to do after getting off the ferry from the City was to head up Mount Victoria and take in the view from above. We visited on one of the most beautifully sunny Winter day. The walk up was refreshing. We deviated from the paved roads and took the walked path and took in the... More

Without actually intending to, I found myself walking to the summit of Mt Victoria. It was hard work as it is pretty steep however, the views as you make your way around one of Auckland's distinctive volcanic cones are fantastic. As luck would have it, the sun came out as I reached the summit and I was able to take... More
