We stayed on the beach on the south shore. Though the rest of the beautiful lake's shoreline is really clear and nice, the south shore is full of black goo, algae, and pipes. Looks like they pipe the street runoff via many various pipes that extend into the lake. This does not help the health of the lake. Also, though... More

One of my favorite places to visit in the US is the magnificent sparkling sapphire Lake Tahoe. Driving towards the lake up the mountain, surrounded by tall fir trees, smelling the fresh air, our first view of Lake Tahoe was looking at a sparkling sapphire lake. Upon arrival the first thing I did was change into my swim suit and... More

We used the audio CD to guide us around the Lake starting at the state line on the south side and driving clock-wise. The first major stop is Inspiration Point overlooking Emerald Bay. Very nice, but the views of this bay get better at the Eagle Falls stop, there were two artists set up there painting the beauty from this... More

Near the western shoreline of South Lake Tahoe there are very nice walking and biking paths among the Ponderosa pines.

It pays to stay at the lake but just the drive around it is worth it. For us it was relaxing. They have two seasons, the summer and the winter. Pretty busy both times. Worth the trip

Water is perfect, weather is perfect, things to see are plentiful, restaurants are great. There are many things for families, young singles, couples both young and old to explore. It is in close proximity to all... Yosemite, reno, casinos, or just enjoy Heavenly village.

Outdoorsy and rustic with a weird speckle of casinos and nightlife. Close to home and a really pretty drive.

What a great place to visit. Shops, restaurants, activities for the whole family, especially if you are willing to explore a bit. I see a review earlier about a lack of bike lanes. Near Pope Beach on hwy 89 there are some very nice biking trails that are great for even a novice biker. Take time to go away from... More
