The view is wonderful, but for a family of 4 you are talking over $100. During the summer, the observation point has food for purchase. If you already have a Heavenly pass, then you can go for free.
Let's be clear about this. If you do not have a ski pass, the gondola is not worth your money!
At $70 (for two) a brief trip up a mountainside and down again is (excuse the pun) too STEEP!
THE GONDOLA OFFERS ONLY ONE GOOD VIEW. That is all you get, half way up at the viewing point. There you...

I used the gondola almost on a daily basis when staying in South Lake Tahoe and skiing at Heavenly Valley. The views can only be described as amazing. Great vista's from the gondola looking back toward Tahoe. The lake looks magnificent and the snow covered trees look out of this world.
My sister and me - both non-skiers - travelled to the viewing platform and then on to the top of the gondola - the views of the mountains and the lake were incredible
The Gondola Ride at Heavenly is VERY EXPENSIVE ($36 per person), but worth it if you've never done it before. The views are spectacular, especially at the Observation Platform on the way up the mountain. Stay as long as you want and take in the spectacular views of the entire majesty Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. At the...

This is an attraction well worth doing. Very quiet and smooth ride to the top of Heavenly at South Lake Tahoe. Scenery is breathtaking especially from the observation platform. Mary at ticket sales very helpful in explaining the ride to us.
Staff very helpful and enthusiastic about the ride. It was refreshing to encounter such friendly staff who really appeared...

The ticket prices are steep but worth the splurge, even for non-skiers. The views of Lake Tahoe are incredible!
Take this ride when the weather is nice, not on a cloudy day. The views from the gondola and the observation station are truly incredible.
We actually went up on the gondola twice. The first time, it was clear at the base of the mountain, but by the time we got up to the observation level, it was completely socked in and you couldn't see the lake. We were a little disappointed, but the experience was interesting in it's own way to see the trees...
