We visited the area the last week of May and early June. The beach was jam packed with young people who were playing games and generally taking over a good bit of the whole beach. It seemed as though it might have been a school celebration. The location is gorgeous and the water is easily accessible. There is a fee... More

We went to the beach to relax. We ended up chasing each other up and down the shore, swimming in the cold water and kayaking for an hour. The bathrooms are spacious and clean. Lots of tables and trees to sit under. Had a great time.

Pope beach and the surrounding historic sites are a great way to get away from the busyness of the downtown strip. It is located on Hwy89 which extends around the west side of the lake. In the summer the parking lots are open but in May the gates to the lots are closed, so most people park along the road... More

On March 24th Pope Beach was not even open yet to cars and normal traffic. I decided to not ski and to rent a bike to do the 15 mile round trip bike trail near the beach and other places such as the Tallac Historic site. The bike trail is a must!

I would go back in a heartbeat. The colors, the temperature, the photo ops were all 100% perfect. One of the most breathtaking places I've ever been. Rent a bike!

Pope Beach seemed like a decent beach. It was less crowded than Camp Richardson and with better sand, but not quite as nice as Baldwin Beach a few miles further North. I'd just stick with Baldwin. Pope isn't super wide, but it works.

A beautiful beach to relax. Great for swimming and no rocks in the water. Barbecue pits and tables, bathrooms, large parking area. The Canadian Geese are there every year and fun to feed. There is not one thing I don't like about Pope Beach.

Pope Beach is simply beautiful, just off Rt 89. There is a wider, more populated part of the beach when you first enter and park (lots of parking, $7). If you go further, the beach narrows and gets a bit quieter if you want a more peaceful experience. The views of the lake and mtns. are incredible. The water is... More

My husband had a work training somewhat nearby Tahoe and I had heard from lots of Californians (we're only living here for a year) that I HAVE to do Tahoe. After reading reviews on Tripadvisor, I decided we'd start at Pope Beach. My reaction? Eh, nice enough. The sand on this beach is big and gravelly, not that that's terrible... More
