We rode our bikes to Pope Beach one morning and it was beautiful- far less crowded than the beach at Camp Richardson and other beaches nearby. Clean sand, great views, and some shady spots. Kayaking and paddleboard rentals right at the beach. Great way to spend a whole day.

Lovely beach, family, couples, or singles, away from crowds, beautiful clear waters, just minutes away East from South Lake Tahoe. Definitely recommend it.

We spent about 3 hours on the beach late afternoon. The water is cold (about 68 F) but the sand is clean except for a few pine needles. The view of sailboats racing the lake can be breathtaking. There are clean bathrooms and ample parking near by. Parking is $8.

On our last day in Lake Tahoe we decided to find a beach other than El Dorado which was where we had been the whole time. I am so glad we found Pope Beach! There is a fee per car to get in, but it is well worth it. I like the fact that it is a real beach with... More

This is a nice beach, but it can get very crowded. You need to go early and get a good spot during the summer months. They charge for car parking, but if you rent a bike or have a bike you can get in for free and enjoy a relaxing day on the sand and water.

We had a great time spending the day at Pope Beach while on vacation in Tahoe. The kids enjoyed it much more than Meeks Bay, which is where we'd been previously. They liked that the shoreline was sandy and not all rocky like at Meeks Bay. The bathrooms were very nice and clean. It wasn't too crowded on a weekday... More

Stopped here twice. Once for the sunset, it was great, and once the next day for the beach, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding. A nice long sandy beach with parking right next to it. In the evening the tourists are gone and locals come with food and music to enjoy it. Do it if you get the chance.

Such a great place to day camp! There was an $8 fee at the entrance, once in there was plenty of parking and a very close walk from the car to the beach. There is a lot of shade and lots of picnic tables which was nice considering we didn't bring an ex-up on this trip. Closr, clean bathrooms are... More
