We had a great time spending the day at Pope Beach while on vacation in Tahoe. The kids enjoyed it much more than Meeks Bay, which is where we'd been previously. They liked that the shoreline was sandy and not all rocky like at Meeks Bay. The bathrooms were very nice and clean. It wasn't too crowded on a weekday... More

Stopped here twice. Once for the sunset, it was great, and once the next day for the beach, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding. A nice long sandy beach with parking right next to it. In the evening the tourists are gone and locals come with food and music to enjoy it. Do it if you get the chance.

Such a great place to day camp! There was an $8 fee at the entrance, once in there was plenty of parking and a very close walk from the car to the beach. There is a lot of shade and lots of picnic tables which was nice considering we didn't bring an ex-up on this trip. Closr, clean bathrooms are... More

Loud music and crowded. Perhaps a good time if you are into that. I go for a bit more of a relaxing time. I went to the free beach down the way.

The beach is absolutely stunning. 360 views of the mountains, trees and beach ahead. Traveled with 3 couples and a 9 month old baby on 4th of July weekend. This beach was not too crowded (surprisingly-- for the holiday weekend!) and was perfect for us to hang out all day by the water. We brought our canopy and our tubes,... More

We had an excellent time on Pope Beach on a recent multi-generation visit to South Lake Tahoe. The beach was easy to find and so was parking as we had arrived mid-morning. There was an $8 day-use fee. There were picnic tables and benches for our stuff and for seating in the shade of the tall pine trees lining the... More

When coming to Tahoe on our day trips we usually wind up at Pope Beach because it has what we like, i.e. flush toilets, some shade, usually a nice spot on the sand near the beautiful clear water while some of it is tree shaded. Of course, it also has picnic tables and BBQ grills, etc. Most of all, it... More

Long and wide so lots of room to yourself. No pets allowed is a bummer, but everything else about it is perfect. It is our favorite especially in the shoulder seasons when the crowds are gone. Nice for a romantic BBQ in the evening. The geese might steal your food but the water and the sand will steal your heart.

This beach is really nice for the Tahoe area, pretty views, clean water (of course its Tahoe) and this beach sets back from the main highway 89 a ways so its quiter, however if you drive its $5 per car, so I suggest biking or walking there.
