I've been doing a lot of hiking lately, my usual haunt being the FRIM Forest Reserve in Kepong. However, I decided to try something different so, on a relatively quiet weekend, I drove to Kuala Selangor instead. The entrance to the park is pretty easy to find. Its located at the foothill of Bukit Melawati, about 500m off the main... More

Experience a walk through a mangrove swamp. Look up and see the Macaques and Silver Leaf Monkeys. On a good day, Storks and Herons are found on the trees and lake while Eagles roam the skies. Before sunset, look out for Woodpeckers. Don't forget your mosquito repellant.

We had an afternoon/evening trip from KL to this area, the monkeys were delightful and we managed to see some of the bright orange baby monkeys which was a treat, they are not at all aggressive but very tame and will come up to you for food, there are of course people there selling monkey food, then we had dinner... As only very few people seem to come here (although the park's infrastructure seems developed with a "hostel" and other rooms + administration buildings), you are likely to be alone in the park. We saw many monkeys, birds, and even crocodiles swimming in the lake! Bring mosquito repellent. Really nice experience!

Well, we took their bus up there for sightseeing. See monkeys climbing around and a motorcycle selling food which you can feed the monkeys there. Take care of your belongings away from the monkeys. Been there last 2 years.

Wonderful birding site where you can spent few hours walking alone in the forest Safe place as there is no large carnivores only water monitors who are scary looking but very shy . 3 birdwatching towers provide good overview spot . A lot of woodpeckers, fan tailed , kites , monkeys and the annoying mosquitoes ! Wear long sleeve shirts... More

The main trail that takes about 1 hr 40 mins is nice, looks like it came straight out of a Korean movie. Great for pictures, if you're into that sort of thing. Entrance fee of RM4 per person, quite reasonable. We saw some herons, otters, monitor lizards, and plenty of monkeys, mudskippers and crabs. There were many kinds of birds... More

The basic walk around the main perimeter takes about 90 mins - use insect repellant and take sunscreen, consider umbrella for shade in unshaded areas , take water. A good selection of plants and birds if you are patient and prepared to watch for them Undisturbed environment so you need to look harder and take time to find things -... More

Take the extra time to get out to these old growth hardwood forest sanctuary areas. Beware of the areas around fallen trees - there are many leeches and before you know it they are latched on and sucking your blood. Very gross.

This park is definitely worth a visit. It is one of the rare parks in West Malaysia for nature and wildlife. It has a good mangrove park especially a broad walk. Migratory birds could be seen. Some of the facilities need attention. An early morning visit is highly recommended.
