Owner description: Mesmerising, breath-taking, amazing, awesome - just some of the words our visitors use when they talk about RSPB Bempton Cliffs.More than 200,000 seabirds - including gannets, puffins, kittiwakes and razorbills - nest on these cliffs, turning them into a seething mass of activity in spring and summer. And in autumn and winter, when the wind whips the sea into a cauldron of foam and spume, a clifftop walk is guaranteed to blow away the cobwebs. No wonder RSPB Bempton Cliffs has been described as one of the truly unmissable British wildlife spectacles.

We've been a lot of times and the bird life on view is always stunning, Gannets, Razorbills, Guillemots and if you time your visit right you'll see puffins as they've breeding colonies there! They're doing the visitor centre up at the moment (due to complete early 2015 I think) so the reserve is a bit out of action but we'll... More

The Bempton Cliffs nature reserve, four or so miles from Bridlington in the East Riding of Yorkshire, provides an astonishing spectacle, for there, between April and August in six miles of 300 ft. chalk cliffs, nestle and breed 200,000 seabirds of almost every kind and in winter there are buntings, sparrows, finches and owls. The cliffs are indeed home to... More

we didn't see the puffins - they're long gone at this time of year , but we did see a couple of dolphins , so were well chuffed.

We have been many times over the years and it never disappoints. The scenery and cliffs are spectacular, the birds are amazing and the photography opportunities are endless. There is a small café there for coffee and cake, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I thoroughly recommend Bempton Cliffs, but do check out when the birds are there and... More

Sea cruise on the Yorkshire Belle on board you told all about the sea birds at Bempton cliffs, the scenery is fab. the cliffs are very steep and there are thousands of birds and they make a lot of noise, but if you are visiting Bridlington then have a cruise on the Yorkshire Belle, the crew are very good and... Bempton cliffs are only a mile away, and we visit several times a year. The collection of seabirds nesting on the cliffs is amazing, and follows a routine year in, year out. Summer time is best, as you have a wider range of birds to see. The RSPB have fenced the cliff edge, and made viewing platforms to give the... More

Lovely day out on cliffs looking at seabird colonys. Met a RSPB volunteer who was very helpful and full of interesting information on Gannets. Unfortunately visitor centre shut for renovations but lovely day anyway. Fantastic Tree Sparrows everywhere.

This is where you can film or photograph several species of cliff dwelling birds, including gannets, gulls, cormorants and puffins. Probably the best time to visit would be in May, when most are nesting on the cliffs. The puffins are at their most colourful at this time, and in reasonably large numbers. The tracks will take you quite close to... More

Go to Bempton in the spring and see the Gannetts and Kittywakes nesting on the cliffs you may even be lucky enough to spot a Puffin. Then go up the road to Thornwick Bay have a cuppa in the little cafe and admire the scenery. A great day out.

Fantastic views and saw many different birds on the cliffs. An RSPB member was watching some ganets and told us all about them and let us watch them through her telescope. You can walk for miles. Shame the visitors centre was closed, but the RSPB lady said a new centre is to be opened at some point.

Yes, the visitor centre is now closed until Spring 2015. We have received both Heritage Lottery Funding and Coastal Communties Funding to make this possible. So it's a very exciting time for us. Meanwhile, it does mean there are no RSPB facilities available on the cliffs. But it will be worth it when our new development is complete next year.... More
