Beaches are not for me but one is good

Firstly, they are the hunting ground, and by no means happy, for hawkers selling tat. These guys are trying to make a living but they can be annoying, at a minimum. This lovely... read more

Firstly, they are the hunting ground, and by no means happy, for hawkers selling tat. These guys are trying to make a living but they can be annoying, at a minimum. This lovely beach has its fair share. But the up side of beaches here is that they are dotted with chiringuitos, open air bars and restaurants and it is... More

A quieter stretch of beach but with all the usual amenities you need for a trip to the beach. There is now a new boardwalk along the beach which is good for walkers and joggers alike.

We've done the walk from Riviera to La Cala a few times and it's a great addition and the views of the Mediterranean are stunning. Lots of the chirrenguettos have profited from the boardwalk and more important lots of people's health has improved. One small winge are the bike users some don't show any consideration to the other boardwalk users.... More

We visited the beach again after several visits in previous years. The restaurant and surrounding area has been improved while the food in La Luna restaurant is still reasonable and excellent. My only criticism is the paths to the beach lounge chairs which are filthy. You would be afraid to walk bare foot to the bar or toilet facilities which... More

Mijas local authority have been very busy finishing off the boardwalk stretching from Calahonda (La Luna) to La Cala and moving sand from one beach to the next to improve the look before the Easter breakand after a very stormy weekend the sparkle, blue skies and warmth have returned

Fabulous Boardwalk stretching from La Cala to Riveria. Spectacular views, clean plentiful WC facilities. A couple of excellent restaurants and several beach cafes. Well spaced seating. You can start your walk at Riveria or at La Cala either walk provides walkers with a level, easy walk. The Boardwalk is predominately used by walkers but today there were several cyclists and... We used this restaurant every day when we stayed at the MacDonald Leila Playa. It is literally a 2 minute walk along the boardwalk from the resort. Very friendly staff and a decent menu. The fish kebabs, sardines and grilled rosada are particularly good. Also try and see the Flamenco on the Sunday evening. We went not really knowing what... More

Well, what can I say! This Boardwalk has made an enormous difference to Calahonda! Today was warm & the Boardwalk very popular indeed! We strolled to La Cala for lunch and then strolled back, having refreshments at the Garden cafe. What a good job by Mijas council! Kept clean as well with pride in the workmanship - could learn a... I have heard that Playa de Calahonda should be a lovely beach but as we always come by car, we have not yet found an empty parking space convenient enough to walk the remaining distance to the beach. A sign to the beach would also be welcome as the first we see is a private gate.
