This is perhaps the best location on the west coast for fishing. Closest place to the continental shelf so there is a huge variety of fish, depending on the season. Everything from salmon, halibut, ling cod, rock fish to albacore tuna in September. The floating lodge is close to the fishing grounds and there are protected areas when the weather... More

Thanks for your supportive review. As you mentioned, we are not a 5 star fishing resort nor have we ever pretended to be. Our pricing is beyond competitive as we offer the best value for your dollar of any fishing Lodge in BC or Alaska. On top of that we offer a 5 star fishing experience. We are having internet... Three of us have been doing fishing trips together for over three years and over those years we have fine tuned what we look for in a fishing trip. (1) Great guides (2) Avoid long travel days (3) Good processing and freezing of catch and (4) good fishing. This year we decided to try a floating fishing lodge and after... More

Reading your mixed review it is difficult to know how we should respond to it. Reading between the lines it sounds like overall the positive components of your trip, like your excellent fishing guide, the excellent food and the excellent staff far out weights some of the other concerns that you mentioned. We pride ourselves on offering a 5 star... More

I am an avid angler that loves catching and eating salmon, lingcod, snapper and halibut. If you are of the same thread this is a place you need to try. We were a group of 5 anglers who chose to take part in the early season fishery which included 30 hours of guided fishing at a reasonable price. In just... More

Thank you for taking the time to write your kind words. As you say, until you have experienced the fishing that our area has to offer, it is hard to convince people that we indeed have a World Class fishery, right at our front doorstep. We are very lucky that we do not have a commercial net fishery in our... More

I am part of a small group that has visited RFL over many years. Fishing was good again this year, and we appreciated the positive and capable assistance provided to us by the team at RFL. This year was especially rewarding for the wide variety of marine life that we saw in passing. The list included a blue shark, sea... More

Thanks for taking the time to write such an interesting review. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us again and it always amazes me that we are blessed with such an incredible abundance of marine life in our local waters. This tells me that we are very lucky to have such a healthy and diverse... More

What a fantastic adventure. My wife and I promised our 13 year old nephew if he had good grades we would take him fishing. We chose Rodgers Fishing Lodge, based in large part due to their ratings on this site. Doug was fantastic to work with in making the reservations. The lodge is fantastic, the dinner meal was obviously prepared... More

Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice review. Glad to hear that your nephew had a good time and enjoyed the experience of fishing on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. It seems like a fishing trip in exchange for some good grades is a great formula moving forward. We hope that you will come back... More

Our party of three had a great time staying at Rodgers. The weather was warm and sunny. The winds made for choppy seas at times, but it was nothing that the well maintained boats at Rodgers couldn't handle. Just remember to bring motion sickness pills if you have needed them in the past. Having driven to Tahsis (which was a... More

Great review. Many thanks for taking the time to write it. It is indeed surprising how different the West Coast of Vancouver Island is from the East side. It is a lot more rugged and the scenery is spectacular. Our Lodge is about as far west as you can go and the remoteness of our location makes it unique because... More

We had a great trip with Rodgers!!! The lodge was great and the fishing was even better. We were a little early for salmon (we knew this going in) but the halibut was great and the lings were nice. Boats were great and all the crew were fun and great to fish with!!!!!

Thanks for your review. You were one of our first parties of the season coming in May 3rd to May 6th. I was glad to hear that you had some good fishing and that the weather also cooperated. Early season is primarily for Bottom fish like Halibut, Ling Cod and Red Snapper as these fish are in our area year... More

Fishing trip review number 2, and coincidentally the 2nd sport fishing trip I've ever done. However, I was not quite so stunned this time as I was the last time, as now knew what to expect from fishing trips...and those expectations were met and exceeded. Just getting there was awesome, so long as you enjoy the wilderness (and if you... More

Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice review. The logistics involved in running a remote fishing camp are challenging to say the least. We have finally seen some rain after 9 weeks of experiencing mid August type weather. To have water shortages at this time of the season is unheard of in these parts as we... More

We had the best time ever fishing with Captain Wayne, out of "Rodgers Fishing Lodge". He was kind, patient and very skilled at what he did. Everywhere he brought us to, and told us what we would target, resulted in getting our limits. We thoroughly enjoyed our entire time at the lodge. Everyone at the camp exhibited the same thoughtfulness... More

Florida is about as far away as you can get from our Lodge. Thank you for making the effort to come all that way to do some fishing with us and we are delighted that you enjoyed your adventure. I have been to Rodgers Fishing Lodge twice, once in late July and this spring in May. Both times I had a great experience. Both guides knew their stuff, were easy to work with and learn from, and encouraged our desires above their own. In both cases we found the fish we wanted to catch, and even when it was... More

Thanks for your kind words and it was nice to have you back fishing with us again. We have many guests that have fished in Alaska and they tell us that they prefer fishing at Rodgers.
