My children and I recently did this scenic cruise. Great value for money with children under 12 free. Comfy boat with friendly and informative staff. Beautiful views of the Mount and harbour. Next time we do it, we will take a picnic and stop at Matakana island for a few hours.

Have been on the Kewpie a couple of times now. Taking family and friends from out of town. Great trip. Nice easy pace with a bit of interesting commentary. Love seeing the harbour and Mount from a different perspective and fascinating to see some big ships up close being loaded. Even saw penguins!

my wife and I often take a boat tour when in an unfamiliar place. This one did not let us down. Some historical info, commentary on the current port facilities and vessels in port and on the local geography agriculture etc. A learning experience. Very good value

Beautiful boat, friendly crew, saw a whale in the harbour entrance, what more can I say :) Also went to Matakana Island, one of the area's best kept secrets... had time for a picnic, drank a glass of wine on the way home, perfect trip and really easy to do with kids as well.

Easily just hoped aboard from the walking track around the mount. Stayed on Matakana for a hour for a chilled swim along the beach. Cold drink from the bar as we passed the two cruise ships in port that day. All in all a very nice way to get on the water.

I went on this with my 2 pre schoolers and it was about an hour which was just the right amount of time. The guy driving the boat was very knowledgeable about the harbour and answered questions he was asked. Friendly staff and it was nice to get on the water.

The Kewpie is an small old ferry that runs harbour cruises from the jetty by the start of the mount base track in Pilot bay.The two wooden garden bench seats upstairs were really rickety and the top wooden back rest of the main seats kept moving around. The harbour cruise involved a trip past Matakana wharf and the Tauranga wharf... More

We took the 1 hour cruise across the harbour entrance to Matakana Island and back again. The boat itself is two levels and offers great views from both decks. There are basic snacks and drinks available for purchase onboard however you could take a picnic across to the island, disembark, and then return via another cruise later in the day.... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our cruise around the harbour, was lucky enough to get a grabone discount voucher for this. Was awesome to see Mauao from a different perspective, and the kids enjoyed going up and down the stairs of the boat. Got some primo pictures. Highly recomend to visitors to do this cruise

Very nice trip, you can get off at Matakana Island and get picked up later or stay on the boat around the habour. Commentary is good and there is a bar, snacks and toilet on board. Beautiful views of the mount and Matakana.
